Note 5 Shuts Off Won’t Turn Back On
Problem: Hello My Galaxy Note 5 has shut off and will not turn back on. This is the second time this has happened in 3 days. I have tried to reboot it like this web page has said to. However it will not work for me. I can hear when it rings with phone calls or texts but i am unable to answer the phone because the screen will stay black. Sometimes it will flash with light but then go black again. I really need my phone, not only for my job as being the manager but also so my children can reach me when they are at school also. Please help me fix this
Solution: It looks like the phone is turned on but then the screen is just blank. Try to check if the screen remains blank when the phone is started in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem could just be caused by some form of software glitch. You should try to do a factory reset if this is the case. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the screen remains blank even in recovery mode then this issue could either be caused by a loose connection between the display and the motherboard or a defective display assembly. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Does Not Start After Replacing Screen
Problem: Screen on Note 5 broke. The phone appeared to continue functioning until battery completely drained(ie, I heard notifications and saw the notification light responding). Just replaced the screen without incident and it appears to start to charge, the icon appears, then goes off… almost as if stuck in a loop. The only button combinations that respond are the Custom OS screen, where you can choose to download, cancel or see barcode info. It will stay at this screen for as long as I let it so I’m sure the phone is getting power from somewhere. What can I do? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: Since this issue occurred right after you replaced the screen then you should start the troubleshooting from here. Try to check if any of the connections are correctly in place. Check for any of the following.
- Connections are not loose
- There is no cut in the ribbon wire
Once you have made sure of this and the issue still occurs then you should try using a different display assembly as the one that you are using right now might be defective.
If the issue persists then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a component that is failing to work.
Note 5 Only Charges When Phone Is Off
Problem: For the last day or so, my phone wont turn on unless I turn off my phone. Even when the phone is off, the charging light/image doesn’t appear. But after a few hours of having it off and charging, when i turn it on, it shows that it was charging while I had it off. But i can’t keep turning my phone off to charge. I even noticed that the battery would die off faster too. I brought a whole new set of a charger and it didn’t help either.
Solution: It’s possible that the problem could be caused by a faulty battery. Since this phone has a non user removable battery then you will have to get the battery replaced at a service center. If after replacing the battery the issue still occurs then the problem could be caused by a defective power IC. Have this checked and if it is found to be faulty have it replaced.
Note 5 Restarting Itself Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: My phone is note 5 and the problem is it restarting itself and sometimes stuck in samsung logo and keep restarting and after 3 or 4 time it will be normal
Solution: Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do for this kind of problem. After performing a step check if the issue still occurs and if it does move to the next step.
- Try starting the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Connect the phone to its charger then start the phone. If the phone starts normally then it could be caused by a faulty battery. You should have this checked at a service center if this is the case.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work.
Note 5 Stops Working With Gear VR
Problem: I have note 5 and a gear vr which i used to be able to use with my phone, but as of feb,14,2017 i picked up my gear vr to use and when i put it on my head all i was seeing was my home screen, i have only had my 2016 gear for about 3 months or more and it has never given me any problems. It always started up right away and i did have lollipop before i downloaded marshmallow update. Has there been reports of the same issue in the same time frame as of feb, 2017. I have done it all to try and fix like a full factory reset. Please let me know what u think asap. My husband has the the new edge and i tried it on his and it went right to where it said remove and download which now my note 5 just stopped working with the gear vr. I still had the gear vr software downloaded on my phone. Like i said i did a factory reset and put my phone back into the vr and it still showed my phone’s homescreen. please help
Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset on your phone the next step you should do is to make sure that you have the updated Samsung Gear VR app installed in your device.

- Press the device into position until the Phone lock clicks
- A voice prompt will request you to separate your phone from the Gear VR and install the software. Remove the phone.
- Tap Next.
- Read and agree to the terms and conditions in the End User License Agreement then tap Next
- Read the Health and Safety warnings, and tap Confirm.
- Tap Install.
- Select a language and tap Continue.
- Tap Create Account and follow the on-screen instructions to create an Oculus account.
