Note 4 Freezing And Shutting Off After System Update

Problem: after downloading a system update, my note 4 has been freezing and shutting off at several different battery percentages (sometimes even when on the charger). Sometimes i will have to perform several battery pulls to get it to turn back on, while a lot of times a screen comes on telling me “downloading do not turn off target” and its stuck on this screen for a very long time doing nothing.

Solution: The first thing that you should consider in this case is that the phone software is causing this problem. Start the troubleshooting by checking if any of your apps has any updates available. If you are running an older version of your phone apps then this could cause the phone to freeze. Open the Google Play Store then go to the My Apps & Games section. You will see any app that needs to be updated from here.

Another step you should do is to start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Should the problem still persist then try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this still doesn’t work then backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

On the hardware side the following factors are to be considered.

  • A faulty battery. If this is the case then try replacing the battery.
  • You should also try removing the microSD card of your phone as this could also cause this type of problem.

If the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Drains Very Fast

Problem: Original battery on my Note 4 was draining faster than usual and turned off at 5 percent, then said 0 but still could be turned on like 15 times again and again. I bought a new Samsung official battery and it was OK at first. In short time it started to have problems when plugged in. When I plug it in it plunges 5 percent every time. And last few days it started to turn off by itself around 20 percent and says 0 when plugged in. And it still drains pretty fast.

Solution: Try checking first if an app installed in your phone is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. Observe if the battery drain issue still occurs on this mode. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then try following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the microSD card if your phone has one installed. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Battery Drops To 1%

Problem: Hey guys, I have an issue with my Note 4. The battery goes down to one percent but will refuse to shut down. I tried resetting it, turning it off, unplugging the charger then plugging it back in but nothing seems to work. I plug it in and charges quite slowly, gets to like 43 percent, I unplug it, then it automatically goes down to 3 percent until I get to 1 but it will not shut off. I’m confused to why this is. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution: There’s a big possibility that the problem could be caused by faulty battery. You will need to replace this battery to fix the problem.

Another possible reason why this issue occurs is because of a software glitch. If this is the case then you should try doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 Shuts Down On Its Own

Problem: I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and for awhile now it would shut off. I would charge it while it’s on and use it for a bit in the morning that would end up my battery around 80 to 75 percent. I would turn it off during the day because of school and at the end of the day when I turn my phone on again on the bus it would turn on then turn off again repeatedly. Yesterday I did a factory reset hoping it would fix this problem but it didn’t. I would always take my battery out and put it back in when it does this but it still doesn’t work. Please help.

Solution: You should try using a new battery on your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then it’s very likely that this problem is caused by a faulty internal component possibly the power IC. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Not Waking After Screen Lock

Problem: Hi, My Samsung note 4 fell into a rain water a week ago. I didn’t remove the battery at the time. after few hours i removed the battery and let it dry in rice for few days. Now i can on the phone and use but if i lock of the phone for more than 15 min i couldn’t on the screen even if press the power or home button. Then if i remove the battery for few minutes and assemble back the phone can be on and used. The problem is when i lock the phone for more than 15 min i cant on the screen. Is the due to battery damage. Thanks

Solution: Sometimes issues such as this can be caused by a glitch in the phone software. To check if this is the case perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty internal component.

Note 4 Stuck In Reboot Loop

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is stuck in a reboot loop after being put on the charger. I took the battery out but it did not work and when I pressed the volume up button the home button and the power button it goes into the reboot command (one line in blue letters – Reboot ……) but then kicks off and goes back into the reboot loop (Samsung screen and 2 quick buzzes). I went to a battery store and tried a new battery but it did not fix the problem. I can’t remember which Android Version it is running.

Solution: The following troubleshooting steps listed below are recommended for this boot loop issue.

  • Does your phone have a microSD card installed? Try removing it first as this could be causing the boot loop problem.
  • Remove the battery then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps don’t work then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Switches Off With Battery Life Left

Problem: My note 4 switches off at 20% battery . Sometimes at 40% battery . It restarts in a loop until I plug in a charger . Also sometime when it’s charging it doesn’t go beyond 70% and I have to remove the battery and when I put back and switch on it comes up at 90% . Also it’s been 2 yrs since I purchased my phone.

Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by a faulty or weak battery. This is why the first thing that you should do is to replace the battery with a new one. If this fails to fix the problem then try checking if a glitch in the phone software is causing this by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Does Not Turn On

Problem: I charged My phone with oppo a37 phone charger. After that my Samsung Galaxy Note4 started showing signs of problems like hang restart and getting switched off .but yesterday morning I tried charging my phone as the battery was low but the phone Switched off and heated up so I immediately removed it from charging and let it cool down. But after that I tried switching it on but it didn’t Turn on. Pls help me switching the phone on.

Solution: The heat that the phone generated is a sign that some hardware issue could be causing the problem. One possible cause is a shorted battery. To check if this is the case you should get a new battery then check if the issue still occurs. If the problem persists then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
