S5 Stopped Connecting To Wi-Fi

Problem: Yesterday my Galaxy SM-G900V (version 6.0.1) decided to stop connecting to our WiFi. When I go to the WiFi settings, it won’t let me switch to “on” and when you select the “three dots” in the upper right corner, the only choices you can select are advanced and help. All the other devices in the house work fine, just this phone. 1. I turned it off and waited about an hour and tried again, no luck 2. I turned it off and recharged it overnight, again no luck 3. Took it to work and usually it will detect the office WiFi and ask if. I want to connect but today it didn’t…. 4. I also tried your battery suggestion but that didn’t work either Any ideas? Thanks….

Solution: Right now you need to try doing a factory reset to check if a software glitch is causing this problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if you are able to switch on the Wi-Fi setting of your phone. If the issue persists then this could already be a hardware related problem which needs to be checked at a service center.

S5 W-Fi Connection Keeps Timing Out After Software Update

Problem: I recently updated my Galaxy S5 to Marshmallow and when the update finished installing I got a notification that read “Update Google Play Services. Google Play services won’t run unless you update Google Play services”. I immediately tried to update it but found that, where I was connected to the Wifi in my house, the connection kept timing out. I then thought that it was just a problem with the one app and maybe it hadn’t been properly optimised for the update. So I tried out other apps and was faced with the same problem. I then restarted my phone to see if this helped to fix the problem (it didn’t). I proceeded to forget my network so I can retype my password and to check all my settings. This also didn’t fix the problem. I followed this up with wiping my cache partition and rebooted my phone. None of these things helped at all. I rather not factory reset my phone. Are there any other solution you think will help me out? Thank you.

Solution: Since this issue occured right after a software update then your best option is to do a factory reset. The reset will delete any old software data that has not been completely removed. This data is causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S5 Connection Is Not Private When Using Work Wi-Fi

Problem: Hi Droid Guy, Here is my issue:  when I try to connect to my work wifi, I get an error stating: https://www.google.com   but the https: is crossed out in red and I get a message stating your connection is Not private and then tells me it might be trying to be redirected to a hackers site.  It also says:  NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID Can you help?  Is it a virus that’s easily found/removed and fixed.  Not looking to get a new phone anytime soon. Thanks

Solution: This problem is usually caused by an Internet connection issue that prevents the browser from loading the webpage securely. To resolve this try checking the data and time of your phone making sure that it is set correctly. It’s best if you let the phone acquire these settings automatically from the network. You should also try clearing the browsing data of the browser in case some form of corrupt cached data is causing this issue. Another factor that can cause this problem is an antivirus software that you might have installed in your phone. Try to disable this software then check if you are still having the same issue.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S5 No Mobile Data

Problem: Bought new phone S5 Samsung no data ,works fine on home wifi , no 3G or 4G at top of screen went to phone shop where I get prepaid vouchers from for help, got new sim ,still no good .Sim works in old phone with data . Mobile data is turned on from beginning done soft restart many times, it wanted to go to AT&T all the time . Made Google the default still no go . Don’t know how to get software update, clear cache, and I have not put any new apps in it. Sent message to phone supplier not heard back as yet

Solution: Try checking if your phone has the correct APN settings set as this is needed for you connect to a mobile data network. Get the AT&T APN settings and make sure that your phone has these settings.

If your phone has the correct APN settings and it still isn’t getting any mobile data then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete make sure that the APN setting is good before checking if your phone can connect to the mobile data network.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Mobile Internet Only Works For A Few Seconds

Problem: Hello, got an issue with my Galaxy S5 for a week now, it is starting to get on my nerves. 🙂 Mobile internet works for few seconds then stops working and resumes again between 30 – 180 s sometimes I have to wait even more, but working internet last just few seconds. Reception is fine, no changes there it shows data connection, when internet stops I see only arrow representing upload lit up not flickering. Using Viber, Skype, just trying to browse news has become annoying. Since i have to wait for those “online” intervals. Now here is what i tried and what I didn’t. Got new configuration messages installed, rebooted, no help. Deleted configurations from phone, installed again, no help Haven’t tried to put my SIM card to new phone (unable at the moment) So maybe it is the phone or SIM card (hopefully, it is easy to replace). As soon as i have time i will backup my phone reset to factory settings, install latest update to Android (still on lollipop). Thanks

Solution: Right now I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything yet instead try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then try checking if the problem is SIM card related by inserting another SIM in your phone or checking the current SIM in another phone. Once you have verified that the SIM card is not causing the problem then this might already be a hardware related issue. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

  1. When I try to turn on Wifi the toggle switch is grayed out. I cannot access Wifi direct or manage networks, etc. The only thing I can access is advanced and help. Neither is any help. I have done a factory reset, removed the battery several times and still cannot connect. Any help would be appreciated.
