While this phone doesn’t have any problem running most of the popular apps there are still instances when certain app related issues can occur on this phone which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will be addressing the Galaxy Note 4 app force closes issue & other related problems.

Note 4 Titanium Backup Force Closes
Problem: Hello, I am having trouble with this particular app name called “Titanium Backup”. Whenever I try to open it, it will force close within a few seconds. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app but still the same issue. I really want to be able to use this app very much as I need it to backup all my apps and data. Do you know how to resolve this issue? Btw, I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910G), 6.0.1 Marshmallow, running on Touchwiz Stock ROM. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you.
Solution: If the Titanium Backup app keeps on crashing then try clearing the cache and data of the app from the application manager. If a directory named data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup is present in the microSD card of your phone then you should delete it.
If the problem still occurs then you should get the log of the error then send it to the app developers so that they can pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. You can use the aLogcat app which you can download over at the Google Play Store to capture the error log.
Note 4 Can’t Open Google Play Store
Problem: I cannot open my play store to download any app. i get message unfortunately play store has stopped working.please help me as soon as possible. Your cooperation would be highly appreciated.
Solution: If your Google Play Store app keeps on crashing the first thing that you need to do is clear the cache of the Google Play Services app.
- Go to Settings > Apps.
- Scroll to All apps and then scroll down to “Google Play Services” app.
- Open the app details and tap on the “Force stop” button.
- Then, tap on the “Clear cache” button.
You should also try clearing the Google Services Framework cache. This app stores information that helps your phone sync with the Google servers. If the information is corrupt then this problem can occur.
- Go to Settings > Apps.
- Scroll to All apps and then scroll down to “Google Services Framework” app.
- Tap on the “Force stop” button.
- Tap on the “Clear cache” button.
Another factor that you should check is the Internet connection that you are using. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.
If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should consider backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset.
Note 4 Facebook LinkedIn App Keeps Crashing
Problem: Facebook and linkedin crashing frequently. Scrapbook clips just load and loads and I have to turn off the phone to stop it from going around and around if you get what i mean. Thanking you in advanced. Have vision impairment preventing me from reading for long periods so i could try better myself. PLease help!
Solution: Try clearing the cache and data of your apps that crash. This will delete the temporary data stored in the app which could be causing the problem. If your phone has a microSD card installed try removing it as well as this could also be one factor that can cause this problem.
Should the problem persist then try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this still fails to fix the problem then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Freezes Works Very Slow
Problem: Hi I have a Note 4, which I have had for 2 years without any problems. Over the last few days it’s started to freeze and work very slow. I also use the fingerprint log in and often when I try to log in I have the message saying that the device has rebooted and I need to enter the backup password. I have follow your suggestions on clear the partition cache, which didn’t work so I reset it and clear the partition again but I am still having problems. These seem more when I sync with my email so I stopped that, which seemed to make a small difference but it’s started freezing again so I once again cleared the partition – to make sure but it still happens. I have also changed the battery and tried using the phone without the SD card in it, but again this didn’t make any difference. Is there anything else I can try – I have just gone on to a SIM only contract and cannot afford another phone or higher contract.
Solution: Since you already performed most of the troubleshooting steps required for this particular issue without any success then this could already be a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty internal component. If this is the case then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Randomly Opens Recent Apps Window
Problem: My Note 4 is having an issue where when using an App or any other feature it will at random open the “Recent Apps” window and then close it and then open it again and then close it again and then it will go into the main menu window where it asks you to set up widgets and other apps and then back to recent apps again… and then it gets worse if it is charging at the same time. Also when I try to download on my phone like a gif or document from online it keeps trying to “ask” me to open the file from my google drive area and not downloading to the device itself.
Solution: Do you have a screen protector installed in your phone?This might be activating the recent apps capacitive key of your phone. If your phone has a screen protector then try uninstalling it.
Is your phone running on an updated stock software? If it isn’t, make sure to check for updates first. You should also use the default phone launcher when checking if the issue still occurs.
One last troubleshooting step you should consider is a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a problem with the capacitive keys.
Note 4 Microphone Not Working On When Using Skype
Problem: So, I loaded Skype on my phone. When connected on a video or audio call, I can hear them but they can’t hear me. I went into settings, and application manager, and made sure the Mic was turned on for Skype. I then unpaired the wireless headphones that were paired. I also turned the phone off and took the battery out. So far, no luck. I have not done a factory reset yet. that’s a last resort. Can you help?
Solution: Do you have Google Now set to activate by saying “Ok Google” from any screen then try changing the setting to let it activate only from within the Google Search app. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try the following steps listed below.
- Make sure your phone is running on the latest software version.
- Uninstall then reinstall the Skype app. Make sure to get the app from the Google Play Store.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Apps Slow Issue After Marshmallow Update
Problem: After updating my note 4 to marshmellow from lollipop ,apps like fb, instagram and other browsers where internet connection is required became slow.if i downgrade the software to lollipop, will these issue get solved?
Solution: Before downloading your phone software try doing a factory reset first. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the factory reset. What the reset does is it removes any old software data that might still be left in your phone and is causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this problem.
Note 4 Unfortunately Phone Has Stopped
Problem: Some time ago after resetting my phone back to factory settings several applications, particularly the phone suddenly displays a message that: Unfortunately phone has stopped, it is now happening more often and more apps are joining in. Can you help please?
Related Problem: Whenever my phone rings, got a mesg “unfortunately, the phone has stopped. ” i clicked ok. 1 second later, the same message box popped up again. Clicked ok. Another one popped up.…… I did a soft reset and it worked for a while. Then came back again. Please help. Thank you.
Solution:To resolve this particular problem try clearing the cache and data first of the phone app from the application manager. Issue still occurs then proceed with wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
Note 4 Pre-Installed Apps Are Crashing
Problem: Many of my pre installed apps on note 7 are crashing as soon as I am opening them. Basic apps like Text Messages, Email, Gmail, Google Search crash as soon as I click on an item in it. Please help. It’s very frustrating. My phone is literally unusable.
Solution: Try wiping the cache partion of your phone first to fix this problem. If this doesn’t work then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
