S5 Won’t Turn On
Problem: Phone won’t turn on. I got water in the usb port yesterday. I have tried what feels like everything to turn it back on. Whenever I plug it in, the charging symbol with the lightning bolt pops up but no percentage. I have left it alone for 10 minutes and still nothing. I can’t afford to buy a new phone or a fancy charger. I’m scared to get it fixed because I know i’ll be charged heavily. Please help.
Solution: If water got into the charging port of your phone then it might have affected some internal component of the device. What I suggest you do first is to make sure that the inside of your phone is thoroughly dry. To do this you need to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. Make sure to take out the battery, SIM card, and microSD card ( if you have one installed) before doing this. The rice will absorb any moisture inside the phone which could be causing the problem.
Once the 48 hours is over reinsert the battery then check if the phone charges and turns on.
If the issue remains then try the following steps listed below.
- Try using a new battery on your phone.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to take out any dirt or debris that might be present in this port.
- Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
If the issue remains then I recommend that you have the phone checked at a service center as it could already be water damaged.
S5 Won’t Stay On
Problem: Hi, So i tried almost everything here to fix this Phone last thing was to do a hard reset … but phone has a problem staying on long enough to get through the commands .. before it shuts off .. seems like a loose internal battery connection .. can this be fixed…. phone is just out of warranty .. buy 1.5 weeks and is in perfect condition except it won’t stay on.
Solution: Try replacing the battery with a new one to check if the problem is caused by the battery. You should also check if the issue occurs when the phone is connected to its wall charger. Make sure to clean the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air before connecting it to its charger.
If the issue still remains then it’s possible that this is caused by a loose connection between the battery and the battery pin of the phone. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Stuck At T-Mobile Logo
Problem: I turned my phone off and when I turned it back on, the screen flashed samsung as usual and the t-mobile logo and then stayed there. I did troubleshooting with tech support sunday, today is tuesday night, and a new phone was ordered. I received my new phone and it does the same thing. I am not able to turn it on past the t-mobile logo. Tech support is yet again sending me a new phone. I asked for a replacement sim card as well just in case. It just seems too much of a coincidence that it is happening again with a phone I just got and turned on. I did factory reset, clear cache partition, reboot phone, and whatever else they had me do. I am unsure as to what my android version is. Any suggestions?
Solution: Are you using a microSD card on your phone? If you transferred this card from your old phone to the replacement device then this might be causing the problem. Try taking out the card and see if the problem gets fixed. You should also check if the phone will successfully boot when it is connected to its charger. If it does then you might have a problem with the battery.
If you are not using a microSD card and since you have already performed most of the troubleshooting steps that needs to be done for this particular problem then you might want to consider manually flashing the phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to flash the device can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Reboots Randomly
Problem: Phone reboots itself randomly after pressing home button or power key to bring screen up. Bottom 2 lights on screen come on but not screen then it reboots to s5 screen then loads up as if it’s been restarted. I’ve erased phone and done a reinstall. I’ve put phone in safe mode to rule our apps but still same. I’ve even replaced battery with a new one but still same. Sometimes it will reboot various times a day sometimes only once but is everyday. Started doing this around 3 months ago.
Related Problem: my samsung galaxy s5 has random reboots from time to time, but then after a while it just does boot loops. It goes as far to the at&t globe or the Samsung logo. When it does manages to go to the homescreen it then decides to freeze and some of the screen gets a bit staticky and then reboots. I’ve done the factory reset and cache clear. I need help.
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this might be causing the problem. Since you have already performed most of the troubleshooting steps for this kind of problem I would suggest that you try to do a factory reset next. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as it will be erased in the process. Once the reset has completed do not install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware related issue.
S5 Randomly Shuts Down When Taking Pictures
Problem: my phone will have full battery but it will randomly shut down if i take pictures and will not turn back on unless i put it on charger. Once i put it on charger it will show battery life left and it will let me turn it back on. Seems only to be related to camera usage. Occasionally screen will also just go black too. Its random my music will still be playing and i’ll play around and it will come back on?
Solution: Usually, if the phone shuts down when using the camera the problem is caused by a weak battery. What you should do first in this case then is to replace the battery with a new one. If the issue still occurs even with a new battery installed then what you should do next is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might already be a hardware related problem caused by a faulty internal component. I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S5 Reboot Loop Unless Connected To Charger
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy s5 is stuck on reboot loop. It only works (the reboot loop stops) when the phone is plugged into the charger. I’ve tried everything. I’ve factory reset it, I put the phone in safe mode, I cleared the caches and nothing works. Please help.
Solution: If the issue doesn’t occur when the phone is connected to its charger then this could be caused by a faulty battery. Try replacing this battery with a new one. If the issue still persist even with a new battery then I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center.
S5 Charging Slowly
Problem: Hello my phone is charging slowly or not at all. It says my phone is charging slowly and that I should switch to the original charger and cable. I have used several chargers including the original and I always get the same message. I am assuming that the mechanism in my phone is broken. Is there anything I can do besides getting a new phone? Thank you
Solution: The first thing that you should so in this case is to check the phone’s charging port. Clean this port using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that could be present in this port. Next, try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the problem still occurs then try replacing the battery.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
