S5 Software Install Interrupted
Problem: My s5 active is stuck on 5.0 lollipop Everytime I try to do a software update, it goes through the steps and it seems to be updated then an error screen pops up and it reads; Install interrupted The software update could not be installed To my knowledge the current software should be 6.0 marshmallow for my device Any help is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.
Solution: One of the main reasons why you will get an install interrupted error when trying to update the phone software is a lack of internal storage space in the device. What you should do first is to free up some space in your phone by following the steps listed below.
- Uninstall apps that you don’t regularly use. Prioritize gaming apps as this usually uses up a lot of space.
- Move your personal data that are stored in the internal storage ( music, photos, videos, etc.) of the phone to the microSD card.
- Clear the cached data of the phone. Settings > Storage > Cached data > Clear Cached data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to update your phone software again. If the issue remains try using Kies or Smart Switch to update your phone software.
One last troubleshooting step you should consider should the update still fail is to manually flash the updated firmware file to your phone. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Back Recent Apps Key Not Working
Problem: It is actually a Galaxy S5 Plus phone. The issue is that the back and recent apps buttons stopped working. Not sure if it had to do with an update. Have tried reset power options and display settings, as well as a complete wipe with factory reset. Didn’t work. The soft touch keys don’t work anymore while the phone have not experienced any physical challenge, so I guess there is probably an error in the firmware? Any idea’s what I can still try?
Solution: If you already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then you should consider flashing the previous firmware version back to your phone. This allows you to verify if the update itself is causing the problem. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
If the problem still occurs even after flashing a previous software version then this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
S5 Unable To Download Update
Problem: Trying to update a sprint samsung galaxy s5. I keep getting the following message: Unable to download update Unable to update the software. A network or server error occured. Try again later. My s5 has baseband version G900pvpu3cpj2 My mothers s5 has baseband version G900pvpu3cph3
Solution: What you need to do first in this case is to verify that the issue isn’t caused by your Wi-Fi network. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the phone will update. If it still doesn’t update then you should try connecting your phone using a USB cord to a computer with either Kies or Smart Switch installed then use the software to update your phone.
Should the software still fail to update then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done immediately check if the phone software will update.
One last option you should consider if the phone really doesn’t update is to manually flash the updated firmware file to your device. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Stuck In Downloading Screen
Problem: This is a new phone only a couple of days old. I did the software update, no troubles. Today while in a museum it shut off and would only flash the Samsung galaxy start up screen. I tried everything I know to do. Turned it off, took the battery out. Left it alone for an hour. Finally I said yes to a custom OS system screen that came up when trying to reboot the phone. It says it’s downloading and to not turn it off. I have no idea if it’s actually doing anything. I’m so frustrated. I’m on a vacation trip and can’t use my phone! No GPS, not able to contact the people I’m staying with. Oi! Such a necessary evil.
Solution: You need to restart your phone in this case since you aren’t going to install a custom software in your phone. Turn off the device then take out the battery and microSD card ( if one is installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try to turn on the phone. If it is still stuck in the Samsung Galaxy screen then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe cache partition. Restart the phone then check if the issue is resolved.
- Do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to proceed only if you have a backup copy of your phone data.
S5 Straight Talk No Available Software Updates
Problem: I bought my galaxy s5 from straight talk and it’s currently running android 4.4.2 and it will tell me that there are no available updates but my sister bought her s5 from Verizon and it updated with no problem. Any reason why?
Solution: Straight Talk is not known to constantly release software updates for their devices. If you want the latest update on your phone then you will have to manually flash the updated firmware file. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
