S5 Constantly Updating To New Version Of Firmware
Problem: Hello guys, i just bought an Samsung Galaxy S5, I installed all the usual apps and and a message appears on the screen that I need to update my Android to v6 marshmallow. I did, everything ok and then a new message i need to update my firmware. I did that too. After that the same message, a new version of firmware is available, i did it again… and again… and again, four times. Now it is still telling me that I have to update the software. There is no error messages after update, it looks is ever is ok but it still forced me to update it a million times. I just can’t turn off this notifications. Many thanks!
Solution: You will usually get several firmware update notifications if the phone software is running on a very old version ( KitKat or even Lollipop). One way to verify if something is wrong is to check the current software version your phone is running on against the new software version notification. If the notification is an upgrade over the existing software of your phone then you should proceed with its installation. If however you find out that it is looping or installing the same version over and over again then this is already a glitch which needs your attention. What you should do in this case is to do a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset as this will be erased in the process.
S5 Stuck In Verizon Logo Gets Very Hot
Problem: After purchasing a new phone, I started a factory reset so I could sell or trade the S5. The phone stayed on the verizon logo screen for a long time a got very hot, so after awhile I pulled the battery…… which I am pretty sure was the most stupid thing to do. So now the phone is responsive as far as buttons lighting up, vibrate when the volume up_home_and power button are held but the screen will not come on at all. Is there any possible fix for this issue?
Solution: Try the following troubleshooting steps listed below to resolve this problem.
- Take out the battery and microSD card (if you have one installed) of your phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. What this does is it discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the phone will turn on.
- Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Connect the phone to its charger then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. Once the reset is complete check if the phone will turn on.
If the problem persists then there could be several possible causes to this problem.
- The phone software got corrupt. If this is the case then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
- Some hardware component inside the phone could be malfunctioning. If this is the case then you should have your phone checked at a service center.
S5 Does Not Start After Software Update
Problem: I own a Samsung Galaxy S5 with At & T service. Tonight the device notified me of an At & T software update. The software update completed to my knowledge. A restart was required to finish the update. The phone restarted, and the apps began to optimize. The apps did not fully optimize. The phone then restarted itself, and a partial screen appeared with the first 2 letters of Samsung showing and a line of what looks like numbers in very small font above it. The phone will now do nothing. I cannot turn it off, or on. I plugged in the charger, but it does not show any change. I also do not know how to open the battery compartment. Please advise. Thank you
Solution: For this particular issue you will need to access the recovery mode of the phone to fix the problem. Once the phone is running in recovery mode try wiping the cache partition first. This deletes the temporary system data which could be causing the problem. If this doesn’t work then you will have to do a factory reset also in recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first before proceeding.
S5 No Software Updates Available
Problem: I have had my S5 for two years now. The phone runs on Android version 4.4.2. Every time I check for software update, the message I get is that it is running on the latest software. Why doesn’t the phone recognize the updates?
Related Problem: Have a s5 refurbished does not let me software update my phone when I press on update nothing happens it’s on 5.0 software at moment would like to update to 6.01 please can you help me
Solution: Before your phone can get the official software updates there are several conditions that it must meet first.
- If you have an unlocked device then make sure the phone is running on its original network.
- The phone should not be rooted.
- The phone should still be running on its stock software.
If your phone meets the conditions listed above and it still isn’t getting updates then try the following steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
- Check if there is any update available using the OTA method.
- Try updating your phone software using Kies or Smart Switch.
If the above steps fail then you should consider manually flashing the update to your phone. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Flashing On And Off After Software Update
Problem: i updated software and somewhere after installing, all my pages have disappeared, phone flashes on and off with background screen only, cannot use home key , volume key or back key, only power off key, i have done system recovery several times but still nothing, please help
Solution: Is doing a system recovery fails to fix the issue then the problem could be caused by a glitch during the update process that might have corrupted the phone software. You should consider flashing the phone software to fix this problem. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online. If flashing your phone fails to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center.
