Note 5 Picture Message Fails To Send Or Receive
Problem: Any picture I try to send or receive fails, no matter the source. This has been since the newest update. Messages now will sometimes show “delivered”. If they don’t show this message, you don’t know if your message was delivered or not. The main problem is not being able to send or receive pictures. As much as I paid for this phone (and still paying) I should NOT have to use Facebook to send picture messages. This is unacceptable and needs to be fixed or give me a full credit for the price of this phone through my provider.
Related Problem: First off, I am not sure what Android Version I have. whatever the latest one was that we recently installed….ever since then, when receiving a text message with a picture attached, the picture fails and just get the text part of the msg. This happens OFTEN and both on WiFi and not on WiFi.
Solution: The phone APN settings might have changed during the update. Compare the APN settings of your phone to the one your network is using then make the necessary changes in these settings in your device if necessary.
Once you have made sure that the phone is using the correct APN settings what you will want to do next is to make sure that your phone has an active mobile data connection and that the mobile switch of your phone is switched on.
Try sending and receiving a picture message. If the issue still occurs then it could be caused by some form of old software data that got left behind during the update process. If this is the case then you will need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Note 5 Links Not Opening In Text Message
Problem: Good afternoon, my issue is a matter of links not opening in text messages… If someone sends me a link to an article or YouTube 99% of the time it won’t open..when I tap the link it will seemingly load but nothing appears..the screen is blank..not black but white and blank.. and when I hit the back button a page pops up but not long enough for me to see its content..also if I send someone a link to an article and I go back and tap that same link that I sent often times it will not open for me. Any advice will be appreciated . Thanks.
Related Problem: When clicking on a hyperlink in a text message the browser that comes up never loads. I have to click on “More” in the upper right corner and click “open in browser” in order for me to see what was sent. I have cleared the messages cache and gone through every setting I can think of, but this has only started since the marshmallow update.
Solution: When clicking on a link that is received from the stock messaging app the link should open on the built in browser of the text app. If you want it to open in another browser then you will have to click on More then select Chrome for example. During the latest update however that several owners of this device are having this problem which might mean that it could be a bug in the update. You should try fixing this problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clear the cache and data of the messaging app.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone in recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the problem still occurs even after following the steps listed above then you might have to wait for a future update to resolve this problem.
Note 5 Text Messages Received Out Of Order
Problem: My sent texts to my wife’s Verizon iPhone 6 are being received out of order and and jumbled. This only happens if I send anything longer than 1 line at a time. I’ve tried different SMS apps and nothing helps Not even a soft reset.. Please help
Related Problem: Since the most recent android update, my Note 5 reorders my text messages in the stock messaging app. I’ll send someone a message and 4 messages later the message bubbles start to stack. Mine on one side and the recipients on the other. This is incredibly annoying.
Solution: What you will want to check first in this case is to make sure that the time of your phone matches that of the network. Go to your phone Settings then tap on the Date and Time section. You should make automatic date and time, and automatic time zone are checked.
If the time settings of your phone are correct and the issue still occurs then you should proceed with clearing the cache and data of the messaging app.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
Note 5 Not Sending Or Receiving Text Messages Unless Wi-Fi Is Off
Problem: I cannot receive or send text messages since the new updates. The only way they will come through if I turn off the wifi using up my data plan.
Solution: You might be trying to send and receive picture messages. If this is the case then it will require a mobile data connection and not a Wi-Fi connection. If you are referring to regular text messages not sending or receiving unless Wi-Fi is turned off then this is a unique issue. If this is the case then you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clear the cache and data of the stock messaging app.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
