Note 4 Wi-Fi Signal Dropping
Problem: I have been having issues with the wifi signal dropping in and out (connecting and disconnecting to my bt home hub 5 on a cycle every few seconds) on my note 4. My laptop and tv have not issues maintaining a steady connection. It was happening a lot when I first got the phone and then it resolved itself of a time and now it has been doing it again for a couple of weeks. Another issue I am having is the it seems to unlock itself in my pocket and I am dialling and texting people without realising I don’t really want to put a passcode on the lock screen. I have done the soft reset but not sure what else I can do.
Solution: For the Wi-Fi signal dropping have you observed if this issue also occurs when your phone connected to a different Wi-Fi network? If it doesn’t then the problem could be with your router. If this is the case then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Forget your home Wi-Fi connection in your phone.
- Restart both the router and your phone.
- Connect to your home Wi-Fi network.
If the problem occurs even when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network then follow the steps listed below. Move to the next step if the current step you performed fails to fix the issue.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Try to check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then there’s a chance that it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in the phone which could be causing the problem.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
Problem: My phone couldn’t connect to the WiFi. I have checked my WiFi router & it’s perfectly fine. However, my phone’s WiFi couldn’t turn on. I have tried doing a factory reset but it’s still the same. I had to use my 4g to backup my data. Whenever I tried to turn on my WiFi, it doesn’t show any WiFi connections at all.
Solution: If your Wi-Fi still does not function even after performing a factory reset then there’s a chance that the problem is caused by a faulty internal component of the phone. Try checking if your phone can detect and connect to other Wi-Fi networks. If it can’t then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Wi-Fi Switch Is Greyed Out
Problem: Samsung galaxy note 4 won’t allow me to connect to wifi. The part to connect is grayed out. Already took battery out and restarted phone etc. Hasn’t been updated since i’ve taken a verizon phone and put it on total wireless. First time I’ve ever experienced this! Help please? ?!
Solution: You should backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the Wi-Fi is now working. If it is still greyed out then this is already a hardware related problem. I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Wi-Fi Connection Redirection Page
Problem: I am having issues connecting to a Restaurant’s Wifi connection. I click on the WIFI connection of the Restaurant (ie Earls) and it usually re-directs to the company’s site where I am suppose to agree on the terms but all it does is go to Google with a blank page. My phone connects to my WIFI at home and other WIFI connections with no problems.
Solution: It looks like the issue is caused by the particular Wi-Fi network you are connecting to, specifically the router of the establishment. Try forgetting this Wi-Fi connection from your phone then do a restart. Once the phone has started try searching for and connecting to the Wi-Fi network.
If the issue still occurs then try the following troubleshooting steps below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app installed in your device. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the problem still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should contact the administrator of the Wi-Fi network.
Note 4 Gets Hot When Using 3G Connection
Problem: I have great problem with my 3g data connection.when I turn on data my phone get hot and it release the mobile network then it get more hot and keep restarting then it get more hot I get no solution then I remove my battery then cold it to restart my phone.
Solution: Try to check first if this issue is caused by a glitch in the phone software. To do this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the same issue occurs. If it does then this could already be caused by a hardware problem. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
Note 4 Verizon Version No LTE Using T-Mobile Network
Problem: I have a note 4 that was originally on verizon I have changed it to t mobile I can not get a 4g lte signal please help as have done everything that you have covered and still no joy ! Have set up the new APN address for t mobile and it still does not work. The only way I can get online is with WiFi
Solution: What you will need to do first for this particular issue is to make sure that you are in an area with a strong LTE signal. You should also make sure that you have an active mobile data subscription so that you can connect to the LTE network.
Once the above conditions have been met the next step is to make sure that you are using the correct T-Mobile APN settings on your phone. If you already have this covered and yet the phone still can’t connect to the LTE network then I suggest you try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset as the problem could be caused by a glitch in the phone software.
