The #Samsung #Galaxy #Note4 is one of the few devices in the market that works well when using touch commands and a stylus. In fact, the phone has a built in stylus that also has its own set of menu on the phone. While this phone has been designed to be accurate and sensitive to any input done on its screen there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy Note 4 touchscreen doesn’t work issue & other related problems.

Note 4 Touchscreen Doesn’t Work
Problem: Hello Android dudes! My N910A touch screen doesn’t work. The original stylus still works as well as the Home, Back, Volume, Power buttons etc at the bottom/sides, but specifically the main screen doesn’t recognize my fingers at all. I’ve tried everything, factory reset etc. I believe I need to replace the digitizer, here’s the story tell me if you agree: About a year ago a few drops of water got on my pants pocket, and my phone wouldn’t turn on. I found a hint of moisture hiding right beneath the battery so after work I disassembled it (youtube tutorial), dried everything carefully and it worked again (except the screen). There’s also a small area that even the stylus can’t touch (the dead zone begins 1 inch from the top of the screen and ends about 1.4 inches from the top). I’ve been using it for a year with the stylus but now it’s just too annoying. Also, I can’t BELIEVE I haven’t lost the stylus by now! I’ve used it so much I broke off the top silver part, so it can’t stay snug in the holster. I must keep it in my pocket -_0;;;; I don’t want to tempt fate any longer. If you agree about the digitizer, here’s my questions: Order online or take it to a professional? Can I replace JUST the digitizer, or must I replace the lcd/glass screen/other components? What should I expect to pay? I’m out of contract with At&t (thank god) so I assume they won’t help fix anything, right? Current carrier (Cricket) can’t help me fix this can they? Thank you for your time!
Solution: If the issue of your phone only affects the display then you will need to replace the display assembly. You can do this on your own if you have some experience fixing some electronic devices and with the help of some YouTube tutorials on how to replace the screen of the Note 4.
If however there are still some other issues occurring in your phone aside from the touchscreen problem then it’s best if you have the procedure done at a service center since they will thoroughly check the functionality of your device before giving it back to you. I would recommend that you scout around your area for service centers that can do this procedure.
It’s unlikely that your carrier will be able to replace the display of your device unless they have a program in place.
Note 4 No Display After Phone Got Wet
Problem: I got my phone wet on accident the other day. I immediately took out the battery, SD card, and sim card and put the phone in rice. The battery was pink so I went 2 days later and bought a new battery. It has been 6 days and I put the new battery in and tried to turn the phone on. I get the blue light at the top and the lights at the bottom, but nothing on the screen. I can tell the phone will boot all the way up because the blue light keeps blinking and it vibrates for new messages. Is there any way to fix this?
Solution: It looks like the display assembly has been damaged by the water. Try to check if you are able to start the phone in Safe Mode. If the screen works in this mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the screen is still black even in recovery mode then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s very likely that you will need to have the display assembly replaced.
Note 4 Screen Unresponsive On Right Side
Problem: Hi, My Galaxy Note 4 started being unresponsive one the Right hand side, in the middle. It has difficulty responding to “Send”, “Download” and anything else that falls in that area. It’s about a 1 inch long be 1/2 wide spot. My Son has a Galaxy 5 and has the same issue, only his are which is not sensitive is the lower right. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
Solution: What you need to do in this case is to first check if the phone software has anything to do with this issue. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below then move to the next step should the issue still occur.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then it’s very likely that the phone has suffered a damaged digitizer. Unfortunately this digitizer is fused to the phone screen which means that you will need to have the whole display assembly replaced to fix the problem. I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have this checked.
