S6 Fast Charging Not Working After System Update
Problem: Hi, My S6 just had a system update on 9/29/2016. After this update the fast charging does not work any more. It now takes 5-6 hours to fully charge my phone (according to the estimate notice when plugged for charge). The problem persists after I make sure doing the followings. I had fast charging in setting turned on I used fast charging adapter I tried different fast charging adapters of my wife and kids, but same problem I tried restart and turned off/on after the system update on 9/29/16 Please help. Thank you.
Solution: The fast charging feature of this phone allows the battery to be charged quickly by increasing the charging power. There are some conditions that have to be met for this to work.
- The screen or the phone should be off.
- You can’t use the standard charger to fast charge the phone. Instead, use the Adaptive Fast Charging charger.
If you have already enabled the fast charging feature of the phone and have made sure that the fast charger is working then you should check if this problem is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from your device during the update. To do this just backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone just yet. You should first check if the fast charging feature now works.
S6 Slow Charging After Getting Wet
Problem: I was about to take a dip in the ocean when i brought my phone with me. I put in inside a sealed sling bag so that it won’t get wet. However, few minutes later, when I tried to use the camera, it’s blinking and I noticed that the bag already has moisture inside. So I immediate took it inside our boat. That time it turned itself down already so I just wrap in a cloth and soak in rice for 54 hours. i decided to try turning it on after such, it’s working normally. After 4 hours since the battery is already dead, I tried charging it. My charger is a fast charging one. Normally my phone is already full in an hour but this time it’s already 30 minutes and it’s still in 11%. I wasn’t able to make it to full charging because I was on a trip that time. I unplug it when t reached 26%. I turned it of again after such. Does this mean that something is wrong with my phone still? I soak it in rice again after 12 hours when I got home in the hope that the next time I turned it on, I will charge like the usual.
Solution: It’s very likely that water has entered the phone and caused some damage to certain components inside. One way to check for water damage is by checking the liquid damage indicator sticker. Open the SIM tray slot of your phone. The sticker should be inside on the left corner of the frame. You should view this with the display facing up and the power button facing you. If this sticker is red or pink with X marks then this is a sign of water damage. The best thing to do in this scenario is to have your phone checked at a service center that is capable of doing board level repairs.
S6 Not Turning On
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S6 Active from AT&T completely died today and shows no indication of receiving a charge on the fast-charger it came with or my old S5 charger. The power key and volume combination for a forced reboot worked just once on the old conventional charger but immediately turned back off and is now once again showing no indication of even being on a charger. I’ve tried multiple electrical outlets, even plugging the cable into my iMac to charge and still nothing. I just did the software update(G890A) to Android version 6.0.1 yesterday over a reliable high-speed WiFi connection, no issues with that, just this. Please help.
Solution: If a simulated battery pull fails to turn on the phone and using different chargers doesn’t work then this might be a battery related issue. Since the phone has a non-user replaceable battery I’d recommend that you bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Wireless Charging Not Working
Problem: My S6 has suddenly stopped recognizing wireless charging. The option isn’t even available in the settings mode. It’s like it’s disappeared. Any ideas? I now have a wireless charger that’s useless.
Related Problem: I’ve had my Galaxy S6 for almost 2.5 yrs and suddenly the wireless charging has slowed down tremendously. It previously said less than 2 hours to charge from about 20%, not it is saying 3 hours or longer.
Solution: There are several factors that can affect the wireless charging speed of your phone. The first thing to consider is the wireless charger itself. Make sure to use a wireless charger that is known to work. If your phone has a case installed then try removing it as this case might be interfering with the charging process.
Another step you can try is what’s called as the Daydream solution. This prevents your phone from going to sleep when charging.
- Go to Settings
- Tap Display
- Tap Daydream
- Make sure that the Daydream option is turned on
- Select your preferred Daydream visual
- Select More in the top right corner of the Daydream screen
- Tap Select when to daydream
- Choose “While Charging” or “Both”
S6 Losing Charge Even When Connected To Charger
Problem: My phone when turned off to put on charge loses charge rather than gain it and this issue has only started today, it was fine before that and the phone is only two years old though the rubber casing of the charger is starting to break but it has been like that for months and has had no impact as such. Since today, I put the phone to charge on 93 and it goes back to 57 even though it’s off. What should I do? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6
Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone first since dirt or debris that’s stuck in this port can cause charging problems. Use a can of compressed air or blow into the port using a straw.
When charging the phone try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
If the problem still persist try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.
