S5 Will Not Connect To Mobile Data
Problem: So I updated my phone to android 6.0 and my phone will not connect to mobile data like nothing is showing no 4g or lte idk what’s going on I had data yesterday and I still have a good amount left too
Solution: If this issue occurred right after a software update then chances are the APN settings of your phone might have changed. Try to compare your phone APN settings to the settings used by your carrier. Make the necessary setting changes in your phone if needed.
The other things that you should check are as follows.
- Mobile data switch should be on.
- You should be in an area that has a strong data signal.
- You should have an active mobile data subscription.
If the issue still persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. This is a highly recommended procedure that is usually done whenever issues occur right after an update since it can effectively take out any old software data that get left behind. This old data usually causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in issues. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S5 No Internet Connection Since Last Update
Problem: Since getting latest update, my internet connection is spasmodic. I get a message saying ALERT-CHECK DATE-TIME SETTINGS. I presently live in China and my settings are correct. I have had this phone for two years and only since last update had this problem. PS mature age user with limited jargon knowledge.
Solution: For this issue you need to make sure that the time and date of your device matches that of your network. It’s best if you let the device get this information automatically.
- Tap Settings
- Tap on Date & Time
- Turn on automatic date and time update
- Turn on automatic time zone update
If the issue still occurs then try connecting your phone to different Wi-Fi networks or use your mobile data connection. If the issue is the same then this might be caused by the update. I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. The reset will delete any old software data that has been left behind which is usually the culprit when issues occur after an update.
S5 Slow To Receive Gmail
Problem: Howdy. I just got my Samsung S5 and my Gmail is very slow to receive emails that my computer and other devices have received LONG before, and Google Calendar as well are VERY slow in syncing changes from my computer. It does happen eventually, or at least I think it does. Until today, my Gmail screen still had the same emails on the inbox as the first day I activated the phone about 3 days ago. Is there a way I can make the receipt of email and additions and deletions made on my computer more instantaneous as they have been in every other smartphone I’ve ever had? Thank you very much in advance.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to check if the problem is caused by a slow connectivity issue. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network or use your mobile data subscription ( make sure you are on an LTE connection for this).
Once you have made sure that the connection is not causing the issue the next step is to check the app itself. Try clearing the cache and data of the Gmail app then check if the issue gets fixed.
If it doesn’t then try starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run so this is a good way of checking if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
One last troubleshooting step that you can do is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
S5 No Mobile Network Signal
Problem: Bought the phone used..guy assured me it was fine..got it switched to my account (boost mobile)..I couldn’t get a mobile network..come to find out the phone has been rooted..so I unrooted it..still can’t get a mobile network so I can complete the activation process. .any insight would be greatly appreciated. .fyi..I get a white circle with a line through it. .were my data bars should be..this also was originally a sprint phone
Solution: Try calling Boost Mobile first from another phone and inquire if your number has been activated already. If it is already activated and you are still not getting a mobile signal then you might want to try doing a factory reset on your phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs.
S5 Cannot Connect to The Internet
Problem: I am new to Samsung Galaxy S5. My handset cannot connect to the internet either by using Wi-Fi network or mobile data despite the icons despite the icons being illuminated. The messages I get are ‘you are offline’, and mobile data are unavailable and the error message I get is ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED
Solution: Since you are unable to go online either through Wi-Fi or mobile data you should try checking if the same issue occurs when your phone is started in Safe Mode. If you can go online in this mode then an app you installed could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
