S5 Will No Longer Charge
Problem: Hi, a few days ago the battery protector on my Samsung Galaxy S5 broke off. I had been careful not to expose it to any danger, until last night. I was having a bath, listening to a podcast on my phone. The phone was near the bath and in no danger of falling in but steam has got into it the connector and the phone will no longer charge. I have removed the battery, which was completely dry, and left it out of the phone for a few minutes. I have also tried gently blowing warm air, using a hairdryer on a very low setting, into the connector point but it still won’t charge. I’d really appreciate any advice or help you can give. Many Thanks
Solution: For this type of issue the first thing that you should do is to make sure that the phone is thoroughly dry since steam ( which is basically moisture) has entered the device. Place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Make sure that the phone is switched off and the battery is removed when doing this. Once the 48 hours are over check if the phone will charge. If it doesn’t charge then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris present in this port is removed.
- Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Try using a new battery then see if it charger in your phone.
If the phone still does not charge then this could be caused by a faulty charging IC. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
S5 Is Hot Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: I updated the S5 and now the blue notification light is flashing, word SAMSUNG is across the screen blinking and the phone is hot. I removed the battery and let it cool down completely and it was still the same. I then rebooted the phone but still nothing. This was only after an update. Please help as my S6 edge fell into the sea while on holiday last week. I immediately took it out and that is still poorly. Now this!! I’m totally a Samsung fan but this is putting me off.
Solution: If this issue occurred after an update then there’s a possibility that a glitch might have occurred during the update process. What you need to do first in this case is to remove the battery as well as the microSD card of your phone ( if one is installed). Next, press and hold the power button for at least a minute. What this does is it discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone. If the problem still occurs then you should proceed with doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this procedure erases your phone data so make sure you have a backup copy first.
If the issue still persists then this might be a hardware related problem. One indication that this is possible is the phone heating up. Try using a new battery on this phone to eliminate any battery related problems. If this doesn’t fix the issue then you should have the phone checked at a service center.
S5 Only Charges After Doing A Soft Reset
Problem: I have a Samsung S5. Recently I found my phone was not charging. I tried various cables and chargers but no charge. After doing a soft reset, it will start charging if I power up with the charging cable connected. If I disconnect and reconnect , it will not charge. It only will charge after doing a soft reset again. Any tips?
Solution: Usually in cases such as this there’s an IC in the motherboard that has been damaged. You should however try to check first if another factor is causing this problem by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will allow you to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem.
- Replace your phone battery
- Try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center.
S5 Keeps On Restarting
Problem: Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and now I have an issue with it where it keeps restarting over and over again and the only wait to stop that is to plug it to power, it seems only to work on power as if I do it with a PC, it restarts once and then shuts down and every time I turned on connected to a PC usb port, it starts, the splash screen appear and then it shut down, can you help me know what is happening? I am thinking is a hardware issue, and may be related to the battery as the phone only works when it is connected to the power. Best Regards
Solution: You might want to start the troubleshooting by replacing the battery with a new one. If your current phone battery is not able to hold the correct charge anymore than the phone won’t start unless it is connected to a charger.
If the issue still occurs even with the new battery installed then the next step is to check if the phone software is causing this problem. I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Freezes Then Reboots
Problem: Hello. My phone freezes up at random times, and re-boots. It was perfect until about August 2016. I replaced the battery yesterday, but the issue continues. At&t said it’s a software issue. What can be done to fix this?
Solution: AT&T is correct as this issue is usually caused by a software problem. The best way to deal with this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if the issue still occurs.
S5 Black Screen After Phone Dropped
Problem: In dropped my samsung s5 last night and now the screens just black but you can here not come on and message tones and the 2 buttons at bottom still light up and so does the light in top corner it’s just the screen how do I fix it ?
Solution: It looks like the screen might have been damaged by the drop or the connection between the display and the phone’s motherboard has become loose. The best way to deal with this issue is to have the phone checked at a service center.
S5 Does Not Turn On
Problem: ok, so i’ve been reading and reading but when i start up my phone it justs keeps turning off. SO, i put my phone is recovering mode then cleared data thing, then the cache thing, after that i tried reboot then my phone just goes black and never turns on please help.
Related Problem: The phone won’t power up and the green light stays on and goes off whenever I take the battery out but whenever I put it back in it comes right back on
Solution: If the phone doesn’t turn on what you want to do first is to check if a faulty battery is causing the problem. Try replacing the battery with a new one. If the issue still occurs then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris in this port is removed.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and charger.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue persists then bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
