The #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 for example uses this type of display which is why it can display vibrant and vivid colors. Having a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display makes this phone great for various multimedia tasks. Although this phone has a great display there are instances when certain screen related issues can occur. S5 Screen Goes Blank
Problem: Hi I got my boyfriend a Samsung s5 For the past 2 weeks the screen goes blank but he can reserve calls but can’t see the screen as it’s blacked out. We have tried your methods to restart the phone but it’s not working. Have you got any ideas. He dropped. The phone last week and has a hairline crack. Any ideas would be great. My number is under neither.
Solution: The hairline crack that can be seen on the screen could be the reason why the display isn’t working anymore despite the fact that calls are coming in. To troubleshoot this problem try to check if the phone software is causing this issue by starting the phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then you should do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
If the screen doesn’t work in recovery mode then it’s very likely that the display assembly of the phone needs to be replaced. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Screen Becomes Unresponsive
Problem: When I leave my phone for a few hours without using it the screen and buttons are unresponsive but with a solid blue light in the top left corner of the phone it has happened while just in my pocket for the day but mostly while it’s on charge overnight which in turn means my alarm doesn’t go off. It only started after I installed a different alarm clock app I can’t remember the name but I uninstalled the app but still have the problem it doesn’t happen all the time just once on a morning then maybe once in a week in the daytime when I haven’t used my phone for a few hours.
Related Problem: touch screen unresponsive every so often. waiting 5-10-20 seconds sometimes regain responsiveness. usually I just turn off and on again (and have to enter password each time – a pain in the butt) and when the phone comes back the screen usually works again, Very frustrating when a call comes in and I press “pick up phone” and my phone doesn’t answer and I lose the call.
Solution: You should try to check if another app you downloaded is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. While the phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. If the issue doesn’t occur when the phone is running in this mode then it’s possible that an app you downloaded is the culprit. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the problem persists even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Screen Flickering Black Screen
Problem: My phone screen has recently started flickering when I use it the first few times. Today I had a black screen when I tried use it. Took the battery out and did a soft reset. I had the same problem with the first one I had, and both of them started after I flew up to see family, I am on roaming right now, my phone company isn’t in the area.I really like the Samsung phones, but I am thinking of getting something else because of this problem I have been having.
Solution: You should first check if the phone software is causing this issue by starting the phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the screen is still black even in recovery mode then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
S5 Screen Is Becoming Lighter Toned
Problem: Hi there! My screen is randomly getting much lighter toned, like everything is lighter and greyer. Previously when I soft reset it helped, but unfortunately, no longer. Thanks in advance.
Solution: Try checking if the problem is caused by the phone software by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then chances are an app you downloaded is causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then it’s possible that this is caused by an issue with the display. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Flashes Flickers When Brightness Is Set To Low
Problem: My screen goes flashing and flickering when the backlight goes very low. This has been going on for a while now and I need to know what to do about it.
Solution: This has been a common issue of Super AMOLED displays. When the brightness is set to low the screen tends to flicker. One temporary fix to this is to set the brightness level to a higher level and to turn off the auto brightness switch.
You should also check if an app is causing this problem y starting the phone in Safe mode then checking if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it’s likely caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Another way to deal with this issue is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the problem still occurs. If it does then you should have the phone display checked at a service center.
S5 Screen Is Black
Problem: My phone was working fine. I sat on screen a few weeks ago. Has been working fine till I had a look other day. Screen was black. Nothing at all. Phone was still on can receive calls. Makes sounds. The buttons light up but can’t see anything. Phone isn’t even 6 months old. Have been having charging problems since as well..
Solution: The best way to check if this is a software or hardware issue is to start the phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the screen doesn’t work in this mode then it’s possible that the display assembly is damaged. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
