Note 4 Mobile Coverage Poor After Software Update
Problem: I have had some minor issues since updating to 6.0.1 and I know this as I have a Samsung S4 on 5.0.1 which doesn’t have these problems. Since updating, my mobile coverage is really poor with most times, having no signal bars. The phone sometimes just turns itself off for no reason. I also have the alarm clock icon popping up in the notification bar regularly. I am using the same carrier for both phones so it can’t be a network issue, and Samsung have been helpful so I am assuming it is an software update issue. Any ideas would be really helpful thanks.
Solution: It’s possible that this problem is caused by some form of old software data that got left behind during the update. If this is the case then it will cause a conflict with the new software version resulting in various issues including this one. What you need to do right now to fix this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then there are two possible reasons why this might be happening.
- The update is causing the problem. Try reverting back to a previous software version. You will need to manually flash the older version back to your phone. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
- This might be a hardware issue. If this is the case you should have the phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Software Is Up To Date Even If New Version Available
Problem: I bought note 4 from at&t on next plan. Recently I have cleared the device payments, unlocked the device and moved out of at&t and currently on H2O network. The current base band version on my device is N910AUCS2DOI7, I found more updates for note 4 on at&t website. But when I try to update software it always saying current software is up to date. Do I need to be at&t network to get the latest updates, please help me to upgrade my device to the latest version released by at&t. Current android version on my device is 5.1.1
Solution: The reason why your phone is not getting the latest update is because it isn’t able to access the AT&T update servers. Try inserting an AT&T SIM card in your device then do the update.
If you are not able to get an AT&T SIM or if the phone does not update even with an AT&T SIM then try the following steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
- Try to check for a software update. If no update is available then connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch running. Let the software update your phone.
If the above steps don’t work then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file to your device. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 Freezes Restarts Constantly
Problem: my note 4 has been running very slow, when it is charging, the screen doesn’t switch on, and normally restarts constantly, I’m sure it is an android problem, it updated to android 6.0.1 2 weeks roughly. but then sometimes it works fine, but it is very irritating. it also freezes up. tried everything. also says touchwiz is not responding, press ok and it freezes.
Solution: Since your phone recently got a software update what you need to do first is check if there are any updates for the apps installed in your phone. To do this just open the Google Play Store and head out over to the My Apps section. From here you can check if any of the apps have an update.
If all of your apps are updated and the issue still occurs then you should check if the issue occurs when the phone is in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
You should also try removing the microSD card of your phone to check if this is causing the issue.
If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
Note 4 Could not do normal Boot, mmc_read failed Error
Problem: Hi, My Phone was having many Problems like freezing and suddenly rebooting since a week. Today it was rebooting by itself (happened a few times) and now it shows a bootscreen : Could not do normal Boot, mmc_read failed. I googled and found a post on your Website. I didn’t do and system modifications like rooting or a custom Rom Do you have a solution for me ? If not is there any way that i can do a backup of my Data ? Is there a way i can flash another Operating System on my Phone ? Thanks for your help
Related Problem: GALAXY NOTE 4 “COULD NOT DO NORMAL BOOT, MMC_READ FAILED” ERROR,always phone goes in downloading mode, when i am switched on the phone, after 2-3 try times battery re insert, the phone works normally, what’s the problem ;please find a solution.
Solution: It’s very likely that this issue is caused by a corrupt software. Try taking out the battery and the microSD card first then press and hold the power button. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on the phone. If the issue still occurs then try to start your phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
I the above steps don’t work then you should consider flashing your phone software with its updated firmware file. You can find instructions on how to flash your phone at the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 Game Crashes After Software Update
Problem: I updated my note 4 from android lollipop 5.1.1 to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and happy with it, there were a few problems but it’s fixed. Then for me a big blockade came, I use my Note 4 a lot of media and gaming. Some of games just crashes after the intro like N.O.V.A 3 etc. Is there anyway to fix this.
Solution: You might want to try checking if an update is available for any of the affected games. The update will usually fix issues such as this. If no update is available then try uninstalling the affected games then install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
