The #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 is one of the better smartphones that’s available in the market today. Released last year as a flagship model, this phone sports high end specs that makes it powerful enough to handle the most demanding tasks. One thing missing from this model that most people are looking for is the waterproof and dustproof feature. This phone also doesn’t have a user removable battery which means that replacing the battery will usually be done at a service center. Although this is a solid performer there are instances when certain issues can occur. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 no longer charges issue & other related problems.

S6 No Longer Charges
Problem: My wife left her phone on the window sill where we have a window ac unit. It leaked water and the phone got wet. We turned off the phone and dried it off the best we could. After using it for a while it would no longer charge. We do not have insurance so we bought a new battery on amazon and i changed it myself. It is having the same issue. Its not charging or holding a charge and we have tried multiple cables. What else could the problem be?
Solution: The problem could either be with the charging port or a certain component inside the phone that has been water damaged. What you can do right now is to clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. What you want to do is to remove any dirt or debris in this port that could cause this problem. Once the port has been cleaned try to check if you are now able to charge the phone. If the issue still occurs then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center that’s capable of doing board level repairs.
S6 Froze Stuck In Boot Screen
Problem: Hi.. my samsung s6 suddenly froze & came up with the boot screen.. I have tried holding all the buttons home, vol etc but it wont switch on or off @ all & keeps displaying the boot up screen, there are no lights or anything else coming on when i press any buttons just the screen as if its switching on but isn’t. i’ve tried plugging into laptop but again nothing happens & tried the download option & still nothing.. please help as i have all my photos of my newborn baby on there & also don’t have access to another phone so am worried with my new baby
Solution: Try simulating a battery pull on your device and see if this fixes the problem. To do this just press and hold both the power button and volume down button simultaneously for around 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs after performing a step.
- Let the battery drain out. Once drained the phone will turn off on its own. Charge your phone for 20 minutes then try to turn it on.
- Try restarting your phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to access this mode I suggest you backup your phone data. Once the backup is complete restart your phone normally.
- Start the phone in recovery mode. Wipe the cache partition from here.
- Start the phone in recovery mode. Do a factory reset from here. Take note you should only do this if you have made a backup of your phone data.
If the issue still occurs after performing the steps listed above then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be a hardware related problem.
S6 Can’t Go Past Samsung Logo
Problem: hi there.Have a s6 SM-G920i that i put into ultra power saving mode. When i restarted phone it just has the samsung logo going bright and dim. I have tried wiping cache ,doing hard reset tells me mdm does not allow factory reset. i have used odin 3 to re install G920IDVU3EPGG Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware and it told me pass but phone still wont go past the samsung logo. When i ring the phone i can answer it and in the bottom left corner it says safe mode but i have no access to any apps. It mentions cannot load home screen. i know it had airwatch installed on it. hope you can help me
Solution: Since you are getting the “mdm does not allow factory reset” error message then it appears that you have a unit that’s running a demo mode software. This is usually installed in phones that are meant to be displayed in stores. Try to perform the steps listed below to fix this issue.
- From the home screen tap on the Apps icon
- Find the Samsung Retail Mode app. This is not to be confused with the Retail Mode App.
- Open the Samsung Retail Mode app.
- Tap on Configuration Settings.
- Enter the password 5444 then tap OK.
- Turn off the “disable factory data reset” setting.
- Enter the admin password M729Q16K8546 and tap OK.
- Perform a factory reset.
S6 Dock Is Connected Error Even When Not Charging
Problem: Notifications about ‘the dock is connected’ says phone is charging when it’s not. Screen rotating when receiving calls even if the option is not chosen. Auto loudspeaker when receiving calls
Solution: Since the phone seems to have multiple issues I recommend that you backup your phone data first then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps yet. Try to check if any of the issues still occur.
- If you are still getting the dock is connected error then try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be stuck in this port.
- Make sure that auto rotate is off then try receiving a call.
- Make sure loudspeaker is off then try receiving a call.
If the issues still occur even after performing the steps listed above then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center.
S6 Wireless Charging Not Working
Problem: Recently the wireless charging function simply stopped working on my S6. Any ideas how to bring it back? I’m not sure if this was a result of an update or ? I’ve tried restarting.
Solution: Start the troubleshooting by using a different wireless charger. If possible use the Samsung wireless charger. You can try checking your current wireless charger with another device.
Once you have made sure that the problem isn’t caused by the wireless charger it’s time to check your phone.
If your phone has a case installed then try removing it from its case as this might be interfering with the wireless charging process.
You should also try to prevent the phone from sleeping by activating the Daydream option of your device.
- Go To Setting
- Go to Display
- Go to Daydream
- Turn on the Daydream option
- Select your preferred Daydream visual
- Select More in the top right corner of the Daydream screen
- Select “Select when to daydream”
- Choose either “While Charging” or “Both”
One last troubleshooting step you should consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.
S6 Only Charges When Using A Computer
Problem: Phone does not charge with wall charger or car charger. Phone only charges when plugged into the computer.
Solution: For this type of issue the first thing that you should do is to clean the charging port of the phone since dirt or debris stuck in the port can cause charging issues. Use a can of compressed air or blow into the port using a straw to clean it.Once the port has been cleaned try charging the phone. If the issue still occurs try the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Use a different charging port
- Use a different wall charger
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still persists after following the steps listed above then the issue is most likely caused by a damaged charging port. Have this checked at a service center.
