One of the most popular forms of communication today is text messaging thanks to the popularity of smartphones. The #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 for example makes text messaging quite easy with its stock messaging app. It’s not only text that can be sent but photos and voice clips as well. There are however instances when an issue can occur when sending a message. This is what we will tackle today as we address the Galaxy S6 messages has stopped issue & other related problems.

S6 Messages Has Stopped
Problem: so basically what is happening, is when i go to open up my messaging app (its the one that came with the Samsung s6) i can receive and send text just fine but the part that is pissing me off is when i receive a text, or after i send a text, and now if i delete a text and i have the app open it freezes and then give the error- unfortunately, Messages has stopped. How do i make this stop i mean the app is running very slow as is and it just keeps ending. i have reset all setting on device i performed FDR, i have made sure my phone is updated to 6.0.1
Related Problem: Hi. I have a galaxy s6 active and since the update in august. (6.0.1) I have not been able to send to receive new text messages. If the Contact is not already in my texting queue, the message does not send. When I hit send it says “sorry messages has stopped.” Same goes for when I receive a message. The notice pops up and messages stops running. I need to be able to text new numbers for my job, so any help you could pass along would be great!
Solution: The first thing that you should do whenever you get the messages has stopped error is to clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the Application Manager. This will delete the temporary data of the app ( which could be corrupt and is causing this problem) and will reset the messaging app to its default settings.
Another factor that can cause this issue is a conflict with a third party app which you downloaded. To check if this is the case you need to start your phone in Safe Mode. While the phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Try to check if the same issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If at this point the issue still occurs you should proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this doesn’t fix the problem then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
S6 Messaging App Will Not Show After Software Update
Problem: Updated my phone. Now my messaging will not show. Tried to clear the cache and everything. However my messaging is still unable to show. Also, my device keeps restarting and freezing after opening the messaging app.
Solution: Since your phone is also freezing and restarting aside from this messaging issue then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended troubleshooting step that needs to be done whenever issues occur right after a software update. What this does it it deletes any old software data that has not been removed during the update process and is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this issue.
S6 Crashes When Messenger Is Opened
Problem: Just installed the new 6.0.1 update and now device crashes when messenger is opened and is able to make calls. It also has a very delayed response on the touch screen now. was working fine before the update
Solution: To fix the messenger problem try clearing the cache and data of the messenger app first from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs. What this procedure does is it deletes the temporary data of the app as well as resets it to its default settings.
If the problem still occurs then try checking if an app you downloaded is causing this. To do this just start your phone in Safe Mode. Check if you still experience the issue in this mode. If you don’t then it might be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the above steps fail to fix the issue then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 Not Sending Text To Premium Numbers
Problem: my samsung galaxy s6. I can’t reply to texts sent from mass messages ie…71010, 727272 and 223322. I think it comes from not connecting to event sharing. It loads….forever and that’s it.
Solution: Your phone might be set not to send messages to premium numbers. To fix this go to Settings-> More-> Application Manager-> All tab-> Messaging. From here go to the Send Premium SMS field and set it to “Ask” or “Always Allow”.
S6 Lag freezing When Typing Messages
Problem: After the latest update, my phone started to randomly go to Google speak, very loudly, overriding the headphones. This would happen repeatedly for several minutes. Even when not in use and no apps running. Then, another update came around that appeared to help that stupid issue. It only happens occasionally. However, now I’ve been experiencing the phone freezing, severe lag time in typing and random letters appearing. I did a factory reset and it appeared to help for 13 hours. Seriously, from 8 am yesterday to 8pm last evening. I paid a LOT OF money for this phone, more than my danged laptop. I expect it to perform not only adequately but in prime performance. Yes, I know, apparently I’m expecting a lot. I’ve been contemplating with going to apple… maybe it heard me
Solution: Since you mentioned that the issue disappeared after performing a factory reset but then reappeared after a few hours then I suspect that an app you downloaded is causing this issue. Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs here. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
