Mobile photography has gotten a boost lately with the availability of advanced camera hardware on smartphones. The #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 for example, a phone which was released two years ago, makes use of an advanced 16MP camera that takes amazing photos. Sample photo taken by this device show that it can compete and even surpass those taken by dedicated point and shoot cameras. While this phone has an outstanding camera hardware there are instances when certain camera issues can occur. This is what we aim to address today as we tackle the Galaxy S5 camera failed error issue & other related problems.

S5 Camera Failed Error
Problem: Hi! Soon after updating my galaxy s5 to the latest version of android (marshmallow) i have encountered the camera failed issue. I have tried all those options described by you even the factory reset but nothing worked. I can only access the front camera just from the hwmodule (*#0*#). I haven’t dropped my phone. I suppose it’s a software issue, something with the update. Is there any application that can be installed in order to fix this problem? Thank you in advance!
Solution: If a factory reset fail to fix this issue then I suggest you consider rolling back the phone software to its previous version. To do this you will have to manually flash the previous firmware file back to your phone. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
If the camera issue still occurs even after using an older software version on your device then the problem is most likely hardware related possibly caused by a damaged camera module. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Blurry Front Camera Photos
Problem: I recently bought a samsung s5 from a friend. They were having no problems using the camera and took perfectly clear photos each time. Since buying the phone I synced it with my old samsung s3 to transfer everything to the new phone, not long after I noticed the camera wasn’t the same quality and takes blurry pictures on the front camera. Close up photos are fine but anything more than a few metres away is really blurry. I’ve updated the phone and tried uninstalling certain camera apps but nothing seems to work. Do you know why I might be having this issue??
Solution: Try checking the front camera lens if it has any smudges or oil residue. Clean this up using a microfiber cloth to prevent the lens from getting scratched. If your phone has a case or screen protector installed then try removing this as it might also be a factor contributing to the blurry photos issue.
To verify if a third party app is causing this problem try to start your phone in Safe Mode then take a picture using the front camera while your phone is in this mode. If the issue doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then one last troubleshooting step you should consider doing is a factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data before doing this.
If the factory reset fails to fix the issue then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center as the problem could be caused by the front camera hardware assembly.
S5 Warning Server Error Restart Camera Error After Phone Got Wet
Problem: So (s5 active) my phone fell in water and I quickly took out the battery and sim card and put the phone in rice for about 24 hours, then blow dried it a bit. It came on, everything worked fine until I realized the camera, both front and back wasn’t working. I immediately restarted the phone, the front camera was slightly blurry but eventually it cleared up whilst the back camera never came on and a box popped up saying “Warning server error, restart camera” There have been two instances where the back camera actually came on but it froze the entire app and didn’t respond. What to do?
Solution: Since your phone got wet then there’s a possibility that the water has affected the camera circuit of your phone. You might want to try backing up your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset don’t install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the camera module or circuit of your device might be damaged. I suggest you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Camera Does Not Focus
Problem: my camera won’t’ focus anymore. I fear it’s because i had glass repaired. (I did find the plastic cover on the glass and was thrilled, I thought it would solve the no-focus issue, but it didn’t work). I tried your recommendations (clear cache, clean glass, picture stabilization is no longer setting option…I tried deleting newer apps, safe mode… no go).
Solution: You should try doing a factory reset first to eliminate any software glitches that could be causing this problem. If the issue still occurs after the reset then have this checked at a service center since this is most likely caused by a problem with the camera module.
S5 Camera Not Saving Photos
Problem: This has been happening for a while. When I take a picture it shows that is has been taken and automatically goes into the gallery. I can go and see it immediately. When I close it out and go back in the picture is gone and shows the error picture image. (I have a screenshot). I can take screen shots and they save fine. I can take pictures through other apps and they save fine. The only place it doesn’t save them in through the camera shortcut on the phone. I can even take pictures in messengers and send them fine but again they aren’t in the phone when I go to the gallery.
Solution: You should try clearing the cache and data of your camera app first from the Application Manager then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue persist.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- If you have a microSD card installed try removing it from your phone then take a photo. If the issue doesn’t occur then the card might be corrupted.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Photos Not Detected By Computer
Problem: I recently tried to transfer photos from phone to computer. The computer is reading no new photos or videos, though I know I have taken some since my last transfer. I found a suggestion of going into camera settings and choosing my storage device as either the phone or sd card. My camera does not have that option. I also noticed I no longer have the shutter sound option, so who knows what else I’m missing. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this problem without loosing my photos since I can not store them to sd card or transfer to computer?
Solution: Are the photos accessible using the Gallery app? If they are then I recommend that you backup your photos using a cloud storage solution ( Google Photos is a good choice). Once you have backed up your photos and other data in your phone do a factory reset.
