If you are looking to purchase any of the #MotoZ or #MotoG4 phones, good news awaits you. #Motorola has now confirmed that all devices in this lineup will receive the coveted Android Nougat (7.1) update by the end of the year.
The company has given a rather vague timeline of Q4 2016, but that’s enough to go with considering that we’ll be stepping into the fourth quarter starting October. While it would be unreasonable to expect the update to reach devices by October, our bets are placed on November or December, as it would give enough time for Motorola to tinker around with the new operating system on all devices.
Sadly, the company hasn’t shared word on devices like the third-gen Moto G, the Moto X Pure Edition or the Moto X Play, but we’re not losing hope yet. It is completely normal for manufacturers to send out the update to their primary devices first followed by the older ones, so it’s possible that these 2015 devices will get the update sometime in 2017. As of now, however, the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Play, Moto G4, and the Moto G4 Plus are guaranteed to get the update before the end of Q4 2016.
