Last week, it was rumored that #Samsung was looking to launch the #GalaxyS8 slightly early to negate the bad press that it received following the Galaxy Note 7 launch. A new report is now detailing some hardware aspects of this upcoming flagship, claiming that its new GPU will be designed specifically for VR content, which could, in turn, pave the way for a powerful 4K resolution display on the flagship.
It is said that Samsung will utilize the Mali-G71 GPU underneath the device, which will be based on the 16nm architecture, featuring a clock speed of 850MHz. Needless to say, this is going to be a powerhouse in terms of performance, which might be a prerequisite to play powerful VR content on the device.
Further details are awaited on this particular GPU, but we’re hearing that it will be paired with the Exynos 8895 SoC, suggesting that Samsung will go with an in-house chipset for the early 2017 flagship. To put the GPU performance in perspective, it is expected to be faster than Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 830 SoC.
