Verizon to carry two Nexus phones this year: Rumor

Nexus Sailfish

According to @evleaks, #Verizon will release its own #Nexus smartphone later this year. As we know, Google is expected to reveal two Nexus phones not too long from now. These phones are codenamed ‘Sailfish‘ and ‘Marlin’, with the latter being the high-end variant. Evleaks hints that despite the device launching via Verizon, it could see some non-Nexus like features. This is in contrast to Google’s Nexus program, but well, we’ve seen stranger things happening before.

For starters, users might have to get used to a bunch of VZW branded bloatware with these so called Verizon Nexus phones. However, it’s still early days, so we’ll be reserved in our criticism for the carrier. Looking at the bright side, Verizon customers will finally have the long awaited Nexus phone. It’s been quite a long wait since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in 2011.
