A recent report suggested that Samsung’s #GalaxyS7edge was the most successful Android handset in the first half of 2016, leaving behind its flat display sibling, the #GalaxyS7. New word coming out Samsung’s top brass is indicating that the company might stick to curved display panels on upcoming Galaxy S flagships given the kind of software enhancements the company can provide with the new technology.
The info comes directly from the chief of Samsung’s mobile division, Dong-jin Koh. Speaking in an interview, Koh said – “Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions.”
Bear in mind that this is only a suggestion and not an outright confirmation from the company. So we’re still some distance away from seeing curved displays becoming a standard on all Samsung flagships. Given that the Note flagship of the year is only available in a curved display model, it makes sense for Samsung to do the same with the Galaxy S series as well.
Do you think Samsung should only use curved display panels with the upcoming Galaxy S8?
