Galaxy S6 Not Turning On
Problem: I was Kayaking and a friend tipped our kayak. My phone was in a backpack but got a bit wet. Once back on the kayak I checked my phone and it has turned off. I tried to turn it back on it didn’t work, but the phone was hot. I went home and put it in rice overnight. I checked the trigger and it is still white,so it claims no water damage, but I still can’t get the phone to turn on.I tried plugging it into a charger it still was unresponsive. Now it’s sitting in rice again. I’m not sure what to do, I don’t care about buying a new phone but I want this one to turn on even once, just so I can get all of my information off of it. My phone has my whole life on it. Please help.
Solution: The fact that the phone got hot while it got a bit wet is an indication that moisture might have entered the phone and has caused some component inside to heat up possibly due to a short circuit. To troubleshoot this issue on your end make sure that the moisture inside the phone has been taken out first. Placing the phone in a bag of rice is a good start, make sure to leave it here for at least 48 hours.
Once the phone is dry you should clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be in this port. Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger for at least 20 minutes then attempt to turn on your phone. If the phone turns on then you should proceed with backing up your phone data.
If the phone does not turn on then you should bring it to a service center and have it checked. It’s possible that you might just need to replace its battery.
S6 Won’t Charge Past 70%
Problem: Hello. My samsung galaxy s6 won’t charge after 70%. I tried everything, the soft rest, safe mode, clear cache, different cables. It still won’t work. I don’t understand what the problem is and i can’t find any proper solution. I can’t replace my phone. I need a fix please. I can’t change the battery as S6 doesn’t have the option . Any help would be great. Thank you.
Solution: It looks like you have already performed several troubleshooting steps already to fix this issue. Since the problem has not been resolved try cleaning the charging port of your phone first with a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could affect the charging process.
One troubleshooting step that you should consider is a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before doing this.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. I recommend that you have the battery replaced first as this might be causing the issue.
S6 Stopped Charging
Problem: the phone stopped charging and my friend contacted tech support and they said they thought it was the charging port. ordered and replaced the charging port, but all I get now is a steady white light..? tried button sequences to reboot/reset the device but get no response. What else could be wrong/can I try. my friend mainly wants to recover pictures etc.
Solution: Was the port replacement done by your friend and not at a service center? There might have been a connection or component affected during the replacement which is now causing the steady white light issue. Try connecting the phone first to a computer with Kies or Smart Switch. If it can be detected then the phone data can be retrieved.
If the phone is not detected by Kies or Smart Switch then you should try opening the phone again then retrace the steps that was done. Make sure that all connectors are secured in place as well. If possible you will also need to replace the charging port with the old one to verify if this is what’s causing the problem.
If the issue doesn’t get resolved then I recommend that you bring it to a service center so that it can be thoroughly examined.
S6 Freezes Turns Off
Problem: My Samsung galaxy s6 keeps freezing then turning off and is very had to turn back on. 2 days ago my phone froze then turned itself off and hasn’t shown any life in it whatsoever.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. To do this follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw.
- Charge the phone for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
Disconnect the phone from its charger then attempt a simulated battery pull by simultaneously pressing and holding down the power and volume down key for at least 20 seconds.
If you still get no response from the device try to check if you can access the recovery mode. If you can access this mode then I recommend doing a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the issue then have your phone checked at a service center.
S6 Not Turning On After Drop
Problem: i dropped my galaxy s6 active on the floor and instantly went to a black screen and there is a blue light in the left hand corner that is still on since dropping it. I came home and charged the phone and tried to restart it or reboot it with no luck whatsoever. it won’t do anything
Solution: It looks like a component inside your phone was affected by the drop. The battery might have gotten loose or some component might have been damaged. To pinpoint the exact cause of this problem I recommend you bring your phone to a service center since it has to be opened up.
S6 Fast Charging Not Working
Problem: Since downloading and playing Pokemon Go, my fast charger no longer works, it appears to be an issue with the phone given it doesn’t fast charge (although will charge) on a confirmed to be working fast charger.
Solution: You can confirm if it is indeed the Pokemon Go app that is causing this problem by uninstalling it in your phone. Once the app has been uninstalled try to check if the phone fast charging feature works. If it still does not work follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Make sure the port does not have any dirt or debris present.
- Try charging the phone using a different charging cord.
- Make sure the phone screen if off when fast charging your phone.
- Check if the phone gets hot when attempting to fast charge it. If it heats up then fast charging won’t work to protect the battery.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 With Cracked Screen Not Turning On
Problem: I dropped my phone and the screen shattered. It was still working fine. After 2 weeks, my phone just turned off while on the charger. I tried to reset it and keep it on the charger and it still won’t turn on. Can you tell me what’s going on?
Solution: There could be various reasons why this issue is happening. One primary suspect is that it might be related to the cracked screen issue that you have. Try to perform the usual troubleshooting steps first that needs to be done when a phone does not charge.
- Clean the charging port using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw.
- Use a different charging cord
- Use a different wall charger.
If the phone still does not turn on then you should bring it to a service center and have it checked.
