S5 Keeps On Downloading Update
Problem: Phone continuously prompts me that a software update is avaliable for my phone I download the update and when the phone reboots it tells me to download the software again over and over
Related Problem: I have a Galaxy S5 and after upgrading to android 5.1.1 it keeps telling me there’s a new software available and goes through the update again but since this is the latest version AT&T has nothing changes. For some reason the phone doesn’t recognize that it performed the update already. Been through AT&T support, we factory reset it but still keeps trying to update. They told me only option is to get a new phone, with this one being 1.5 yrs old don’t want to shove out another $700 for a new one. Any way I can stop it from continuously trying to update since it successfully did it already?
Solution: Sometimes when you update your phone software you will be prompted again for a new update. Most of the time this is a different update that is more recent and needs to be downloaded. There are however instances when the update notification is for the very same update that was already applied to the device. When this happens your option is to do a factory reset preferably from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock software. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Mobile Data Not Working After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Hi! I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 NEO which came with the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 operative system and has worked without any problems since then. I recently updated my phone to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and everything just went down. When I turn on Mobile data / internet, I don’t get the 4G symbol on top of the screen and I can’t surf the web. I’ve tried removing and then re installing my SIM card, doing a hard factory reset, turning airplane mode on and off but I still can’t get my mobile data to work on the phone. It can’t be the SIM card since I can browse the web on an older phone with it, except that the old phone has 4.1.1 Jellybean. Thanks in advance!
Solution: The problem is most likely caused by a wrong APN setting in your phone. Compare the APN settings in your device to the one your carrier is using. Make the necessary setting changes in your phone if needed.
S5 Does Not Boot Up After Software Update
Problem: After the software update installation, the Galaxy S5 does not boot up. The phone seem to be death. Try to remove the battery and start-up by the power button, the phone just shows the Galaxy boot up screen in 2 second then it turn off the display (Black). I try reset the phone to the factory setup but it does not help.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to make sure that the battery is properly charged. To do this you need to clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could interfere with the charging process. Next, take out the battery and microSD card ( if one is installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and charger. Turn on your phone.
If the issue still occurs then check if your are able to start your phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup before proceeding.
In the event that the above steps fail to fix the issue then the update installation might have become corrupted. You should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock software in this case. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Vibrates Blinks After Software Update
Problem: I installed the new update. The phone now vibrates and blinks on and off only showing me the Galaxy S5 screen repeatedly. Once I plug the phone in it stops and powers up regularly but once I unplug the charger the phone shuts off and goes back to repeatedly vibrating and blinking the Galaxy S5 screen. I was told by a us cellular service technician that once I installed the new update my S5 would be unlocked so that I could use it with a different carrier. I’ve soft reset the phone put it into safe mode aND then factory reset it and I’ve even reset it using the volume up menu and power button as well as clearing the cache nothING has worked since the update and it worked perfectly before the update I even took 2 videos of me updating the phone and it shows everything that has happened. Please help me asap.
Solution: Try using a new battery on your phone to check if the battery is causing the problem. If the problem still occurs then you should consider downgrading your phone software to the previous version to check if the update is causing this problem. Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to downgrade the software which has to be done manually by flashing the previous version to your phone. Refer to the various popular Android forums online on how to properly flash your phone software.
S5 Bluetooth Not Connecting After Software Upgrade
Problem: Since upgrading to 6.0 Android Marshmallow, my phone will no longer connect to the Bluetooth in my car. The hands-free link will connect for a second and then go away and it keeps cycling through this over and over. I’ve been reading your posts and went into: Settings/Applications/Application Manager…but then “Bluetooth” doesn’t show up so I can’t clear the cache, which was one of your suggestions. I had absolutely no problems with my Bluetooth prior to this system upgrade. I really hope you can help me.
Solution: If this issue occurred only after the software upgrade then it’s possible that it is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from your phone. To fix this issue I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
