S5 Constant Update
Problem: Hi! My s5 has been asking me to update since forever ago. I recently got a microSD card for my phone and moved some stuff over to it so I finally have space again! The phone asked me to do a software update and I did. It said the update was complete and installed and everything seemed good to go. However, then it asked me to update again. I thought that was weird but I did it. Same thing happens. It says the update was installed successfully but then it keeps asking me to update. Any clue what’s going on? Thank You!
Related Problem: Just downloaded the AT&T update released 26 Jul, 2016. Phone restarted and went through the update sequence finally reaching 100%, Update complete. Then phone turned off without restarting. I powered it on using power button and it went back to the update installation sequence, with same results. Does the same thing every time I power it on, even after removing the battery.
Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to check if the update version that you are getting is different from what your phone is using. If it is different then this might be a new update in which case you should apply it to your phone. However, if the version is the same as the one you installed on your device then this is a glitch in the phone software. To resolve this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Stuck In Samsung Logo After Update
Problem: Phone went into an automatic update and now will not come on past the Samsung startup screen. It gets there and stops. Phone is owned by a 68 year old man and has been in an otter box since day one. No physical damage to the phone at all. My mom’s Samsung S5 crashed and burned a month ago for an unknown reason. Wouldn’t power up at all.
Related Problem: There was an update available for the phone to be updated from t-mobile however now that I have done so my phone is not coming on now. It will start up I will see the Samsung image on the screen then the t-mobile sign but immediately after that the phone goes blank I don’t know what to do please help
Solution: There might have been a software glitch that occurred during the update. Try to perform the steps listed below to fix this issue.
- Take out the battery and microSD card of the phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the phone will turn on.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Restart the phone then check if the issue gets fixed.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
As for your mom’s phone that does not power up try using a new battery on your device. If the phone still does not turn on then follow the same troubleshooting steps listed above.
S5 Failed SMS Sending After Update
Problem: Since the update, messages I send sms report constantly as “sending” and eventually report back as failed, even though they are usually received by the intended recipient. Also, messages sent to me are reported back to the sender as “not delivered” even though I do actually receive them. I have tried the stock messaging app, sms on hangouts, and the new Google messenger, all the same results. Interestingly, no issues with non-sms on hangouts.
Solution: Try turning off your phone then take out the SIM card. Leave it out for a minute then reinsert it and turn on the phone. Once the phone has fully started check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this fails then proceed with backing up your phone data and do a factory reset.
S5 Not Enough Room For Update
Problem: My phone says I have an update available but it keeps telling me I have to delete apps. So I delete as much apps to have enough gb to update and every time it keeps telling me I don’t have enough room on my phone. No matter how many I delete it still will not let me update it. Any help?
Solution: Try checking the available internal storage space your phone has. For a major software update you will need to free up at least 7GB of storage space. If your phone has photos, music files, or video files saved in the internal storage then move these files to the microSD card.
One other option that you should consider is doing a factory reset before updating the phone software. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the update.
