According to a revelation made by a source familiar with Android news, the LG V20 will officially be the first to be announced with Android 7.0 Nougat. However, Google’s new Nexus phones will eventually be the first to be available in the market. This basically means that while LG will be the first to join the Nougat bandwagon, it will merely be bragging rights as the first Nougat phone(s) to be officially available for purchase will be from Google.
But leaving that aside, it’s quite refreshing to see that a new device will feature the latest and greatest version of Android. Last year we saw HTC do something similar with the One A9, which was the first non-Nexus phone to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Interestingly, the One A9 and other devices in the company’s update cycle will not start receiving Nougat until later this year.
Google is expected to reveal two new Nexus flagships next month codenamed Marlin and Sailfish, with the latter being a Nexus 5X successor and the former being a high-end device much like the Nexus 6P.
