The BlackBerry Hub application was exclusive to the BlackBerry Priv and the recently unveiled DTEK50. Well, not anymore, as the company has just introduced something called the BlackBerry Hub+ to the Google Play Store. This is a package/bundle which also includes a bunch of other BlackBerry-specific applications that are suitable for everyday users.
The BlackBerry Hub feature is pretty simple in terms of functionality and allows customers to get a quick view of all their email, calendars as well as social media notifications on one screen. It’s not necessarily a favorite for many, but it’s something that BlackBerry feels is popular among its users.
The BlackBerry Hub+ will set you back by $0.99 on the Play Store, though, so this functionality doesn’t come for free. In addition to Hub, customers will also be able to access BlackBerry Calendar, Password Keeper, Contacts, Tasks, Device Search, Notes and Launcher with the BlackBerry Hub+ suite. It’s a pretty nice package, even if you’re being asked to shell out $1 for it.
This is quite a bold step by BlackBerry, considering how most popular productivity apps that we find are free (but with a heavy dependency on in-app purchases). However, this is a gamble worth taking for BlackBerry.
