S6 No Available Space To Download Software Update
Problem: My phone has a notification stating that an “AT&T software update is available” and below this on the notification it states “No Available space to download”. I have cleared my cached data and my phone says I have over 10 gigs in free space, which is more than enough for the update, but I still can’t get my phone to update. When I tap on the update nothing happens, nor can I get the update to show up in any way.
Solution: The first thing to check in this case is your connection. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then see if the update proceeds. You should also try to update your phone using the Smart Switch software.
- Download and install Samsung Smart Switch to your computer
- Connect your phone using a USB cord to the USB port of your computer.
- The computer may install any required drivers for your device. This might take a few minutes.
- Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
- If a software update is available for your device, Smart Switch will automatically prompt you to update. At any time, you can click Update.
- Click Update to begin downloading the necessary files.
- Click OK to proceed. Your device may turn off and on a few times during the update process. Once complete the device will return to the Home screen.
If the issue still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done manually check for the update again.
S6 No New Updates Available
Problem: Hello! I am trying to update to marshmallow. One of my notifications on the status bar says at&t software update available. Uninstall unused applications and delete photos to free 3285.53 mb of space for software update. However, i deleted many apps and photos, and in storage it says i have 4.42 gb of free space, which should be enough. However the status message doesn’t go away, and when i check for new updates on my phone, it says i am up to date and to check in 24 hours. I waited another day, and it still says i’m up to date . How do i fix this?
Solution: Sometimes the update servers can become loaded making other people who want to update their phones unable to do so. If the issue keeps on happening on your phone then try using a different Wi-Fi network when going online and checking for the update. You should also consider using the Smart Switch computer software to update your phone.
If you are still unable to get the update then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete manually check for the update again.
S6 Software Update Fails To Install
Problem: I keep getting messages for a new software update it downloads the 1st part but when it comes to updating it fails? The second is when I plug in a aux or headphones my music is still playing though the speakers I’ve checked for any blockages restarted the device it’s never happened before and the headphones and aux lead work fine on other devices? Thanks
Solution: Did you happen to see if any error message appeared on the display when the update fails to install? Usually if the update downloads without any issues but can’t install properly the problem is caused by lack of internal storage space.
Try to increase the free space in your phone by
- Uninstalling apps that you don’t use
- Wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Regarding the headphones not being recognized the issue might be caused by the audio port. Try to clean this audio port using a can of compressed air. Make sure it doesn’t have any dirt or debris on it. To verify if the issue is software related you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still remains then you should have this checked at a service center. It’s very likely that something is wrong with the audio port of your phone.
S6 Not Responding After Software Update
Problem: This morning, my phone received an update; coincidentally it started to show some issues. My recent apps soft key will light up, but does not navigate to the window, none of my notifications are showing, and some of the options on the notification bar are not responding. I did a system reboot, went into safe mode, and cleared the cache partition, but nothing has changed.
Solution: In cases where multiple issues are occurring right after a software update the best thing to do is to perform a factory reset. This will delete any old software data that may not have been removed during the update and is currently causing the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S6 Latest Updates Have Already Been Installed
Problem: Heya, just wondering why wont my phone update to marshmallow? I have tried to do it manually by going to about device and clicking software update but it just keeps saying “Latest updates have already been installed.
Solution: If your phone is still running on an older software version despite the fact that a new version is available then this might be caused by a software glitch. I recommend you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done manually check for the update.
To be able to get the update make sure that your phone has not been rooted. It must also not be running on any custom software and must be working on its original network.
