S6 Edge No Data Connectivity
Problem: My phone was updated to Marshmallow 6.0.1 a few days ago and has had several issues since then. It no longer has any data connectivity (in any of the network modes), I can occasionally receive sms or phone calls, but most of the time I have no network connection at all. WiFi still works. When Bluetooth is turned on the phone becomes very hot to the touch and the battery drains quickly. I’ve tried turning on and off airplane mode, cleared the cache partition, and done a full factory data reset. My provider is Telus, and they haven’t been able to fix any of these issues… they’ve only recommended I send my phone away for repair – which may take several weeks. I’m hoping you can help me figure out a solution!
Solution: If the phone gets very hot to touch then it’s either the processor is working under heavy load or there may be some hardware component inside the device that is malfunctioning. Have you dropped your phone or got it wet? These factors, although not limited to this, can usually cause this type of condition.
Since you mentioned that you already performed a factory reset, which allows us to eliminate any software issues, it’s safe to say that this problem is hardware related. I would suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
S6 Edge Can’t Use 3G Connectivity
Problem: I have a very weird problem with my 3G connection. My sim card works on my other cheap Huawei, but my brand new s6 edge seems to have problems connecting . Every so often I can’t call, use the 3G to browse the internet or receive texts. Sometimes my 3G is very slow (E). I’ve tried doing a factory reset and I’ve fiddles with all the mobile network settings. Nothing seems to be working. At Least I can use the 3G sometimes, but it’s only like 2 minutes before it starts dropping again. The weird thing is that it still shows the “adidas logo” but only when there’s an H or E I can use my 3G and phone-application. My own provider isn’t helping for shit, got any ideas?
Solution: Have you tried checking if the issue occurs in other locations? The problem might be network related wherein the data signal in your current area is weak. Once you have verified that the problem is not network related try to perform the following steps listed below. Move to the next step should the problem still occur.
- Start the phone in safe mode then wipe the cache partition of your device. This will clear out the temporary data in your phone which might be causing the problem. Restart your phone then check if the problems still occurs.
- Check the phone’s APN settings and make sure this matches the one your carrier is using. Make the necessary APN changes in your phone if needed.
- Start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. This is a good way to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. If you see an improvement in your connection speed then the problem is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install anything in your phone after the reset. Check first if the issue still occurs.
S6 Edge No Internet Connection Due To “This SIM card is not a Verizon card” Error
Problem: Where to begin… I recently switched from Verizon to AT&T Gophone, bringing my own Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, as it is only a year old and in pristine condition. First problem, when I turn the phone on, I’m still getting the red Verizon screen.. then it gives me an error message saying “This SIM card is not a Verizon card”… leading into no internet connection unless on Wi-Fi. Not sure how to fix these issues. Any help would be appreciated!
Solution: Have you tried checking if the phone is unlocked? The phone needs to be unlocked to work on networks other than Verizon. The next thing you need to check is the network mode. Verizon uses a CDMA network while AT&T uses the GSM network. It’s therefore important to make sure that your phone is set to work on a GSM network. To do this go to Settings> More networks> Mobile networks> Network mode> then tap LTE/GSM/UMTS ( you can also try using Global).
S6 Edge Not Connecting To Wi-Fi After Marshmallow Update
Problem: After upgraded to 6.0.1 my phone is unable to browse internet via wifi. It show wifi connected however you can’t browse anything. All other 8 devices in my house have no problem, only 2 of my s6 edge after updated to 6.0.1having this problem. Please help, thank you.
Solution: In cases like this the first thing you need to do is to forget the Wi-Fi connection then restart your phone. Once the phone has fully started search for your Wi-Fi network again then connect to it. If the issue still remains then I suggest you try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode next. Once this is done check if the problem still occurs.
If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
S6 Edge Internet Not Working
Problem: Hi, I just switched from Apple to Samsung yesterday so I barely understand how to use my new phone. I have been unable to get the internet to work on my new S6 edge. I’m getting phone and message service from my provider but nothing internet wise. I thought it would come in an hour or so after putting my SIM in, but it has been about 12 hours now. I have tried inputting the APN settings in manually but even that has not worked. Any suggestions?
Solution: I assume that you want to use your mobile data when connecting to the Internet. The first thing you need to check in this case is if you have an active mobile data subscription. Once you have verified that your account can connect to the mobile data network proceed with checking your phone.
The first thing you need to do is to activate the mobile data switch of your phone.
- From the home screen, tap Apps.
- Scroll to and tap Settings.
- Scroll to and tap Data usage.
- To enable mobile data, tap the Mobile data switch to ON.
Once your mobile data is on make sure that you are getting a mobile data signal. You will either be getting a 4G, H+, or E signal depending on your location.
With the signal present in your phone try getting online. If you still can’t get online then perform the steps listed below.
- Make sure your phone is using the correct APN setting.
- Check if a third party app installed in your phone is preventing you from going online by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to go online in this mode then the problem is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- One last troubleshooting step you can do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
