S6 Edge Gets Hot When Charging

Problem: Usually when i charge my phone it gets insanely hot, i use the charger it came i have always used it with that one, i don’t know why it gets hot ii even turn off all the screen brightness i turn wifi, or sometimes even turn it off during charging. Yesterday i was using it like normal , and then i put it to charge , This morning when i grabbed it, it was hot and it was off, i tried to turn it on but it wont turn on, i connected to the charge to maybe see if it just lost the charge during the night but no. Do you think maybe i would need to replace the battery or could it be the phone?

Solution: There are several things that you need to check to verify what is causing this problem. It could be caused by the phone software, the charging cord, the battery, or by a faulty component inside the phone. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do in cases such as this. Perform each step then  check if the issue still occurs. Move to the next step if the problem remains.

  • Sometimes dirt or debris inside the charging port of your phone can cause this issue. You should clean this port using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Charge your phone then check if it still gets hot.
  • Try using a different charging cord.
  • Check if the phone software is causing this issue by starting the phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

If the above steps don’t work then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. The problem could be caused by a faulty battery or a damaged hardware component inside the phone.

S6 Edge Not Turning On After Getting Soaked In Water

Problem: Hello. I need help on what I should do. I have a galaxy S6 edge, 32 GB. I dropped my phone in water, totally submerged, and pulled it out within ten seconds. I pressed the power button and nothing happened. I then resorted to rice for two days. I plugged the phone in with the charger and it came up with the grey battery with the lightning bolt icon and switched to a screen with the green battery at 52 percent. It then had the red indicator light for a minute and then shut off. I unplugged it from the charger and waited another 10 minutes before I plugged it in again. It will now only flash strobe like on back of the phone where the camera flash is. I looked at teardowns on YouTube but I want to wait for a solution before I get into it. Any solutions?

Solution: It looks like the water combined with the electricity in the phone has fried some components inside. The only way to get to fix this is to open the phone and have it checked by an experienced technician. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Not turning On After Overnight Charge

Problem: Woke up this morning and when I plug my phone in to charge it the back flashlight will constantly flash/blink.  It is unresponsive to any of the reset button combinations and I cannot get it to boot up.  It is almost strobe like with how quickly it is flashing.  When i first tried to turn it on it would have a constant light on in the back and when I pressed the power button it would flash brighter for the duration that I pressed the button.  Now it will only flash between a brighter and not so bright flash.  I cannot find anyone else with this issue online.  Can you either recommend a fix or what I should recommend to a repairmen that they can do to resolve the issue?  Thank you guys!

Solution: Have you tried checking if the phone is able to start in recovery mode? If you can access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase all of the data stored in your phone so only do this if you have a backup copy.

You should also try charging your phone again for 20 minutes. This time though clean the charging port first using a can of compressed air. You should also use a different charging cord.

If the problem still persists then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Not Charging

Problem: Before I went to bed I put my phone in charge but I didn’t realize that wasn’t charging. This morning I woke up with a 4% battery and when I disconnected and reconnected the phone the sign of charging appeared only for few seconds and then disappeared again. Few minutes after the phone died. I tried to connect and reconnect it over and over but after the 5th time also the charging icon that usually show up when charging disappeared and now the phone is completely died. What should I do? The phone is only 6 months old.

Solution: The charging cord that you are using to charge the phone might be damaged. Try replacing this cord. You should also try to use a different wall charger.

Another factor that can cause this issue is dirt present in the charging port of your phone. Clean this port using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw.

S6 Edge Fast Charging Not Working

Problem: I am having this strange issue with the fast charging mode. It suddenly stopped working. Checked the charger, it is working perfectly fine with other s6 edge models. Tried a hard reset and issue was resolved. But after 2 weeks of use the same problem again showed. I cannot hard reset my device after every 2 weeks just to keep the fast charging functional. Kindly help me out with a permanent and durable solution.  Thanks

Solution: Since the factory reset was able to previously resolve the problem then the issue is most likely software related possibly caused by an app installed in your phone. Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if fast charging works in this mode. If it does then the problem is likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

  1. I have updated my phone today and it did update as the icons changed; email layout changed, etc. but I am receiving a notice that an update is ready to install. Do I update? Ignore the annoying notice?
