The #Samsung #Galaxy #Note5 which was released in 2015 uses a 3000mAh Lithium Polymer battery which lasts a long time in between charges. Several tests done on the phone shows that a single charge can provide up to 28 hours of talktime, 10 hours of web browsing or 13 hours of video playback. When the battery charge gets depleted all you need to do is connect the phone to a charger and in a few hours it’s going to be fully charged. There are however instances when issues can occur when charging this phone. This is what we will tackle today as we address the Galaxy Note 5 will not charge issue & other related problems.

Note 5 Will Not Charge
Problem: Very suddenly and with no reason, my phone will not charge when plugged onto a charger. I have gone through three different chargers and one of them worked, but it would only work for a few minutes before it disconnected randomly and rapidly. It was also detecting the working charger incorrectly and stating that it was a cable for battery sharing and that I needed an app for it to work (which isn’t possible as it has a giant plug that goes into the wall on one end and cannot be disconnected from said plug), but out of curiosity I installed it to see what would happen, and the app did literally nothing.
Solution: This issue usually occurs when the phone is not detecting the device connected to its charging cord properly. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this issue. Move to the next step should the current step you performed fail to solve the problem.
- Clean the charging port of your phone with a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. What you want to accomplish is to take out any dirt or debris that could be in this port and is causing the problem.
- Try using a different charging cord when charging the phone.
- To eliminate any software related issues that could be causing this problem you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still occurs after performing the steps listed above then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware related problem.
Note 5 Not Charging Anymore
Problem: My phone isn’t charging right anymore. It started a couple months ago that it wouldn’t fully charge unless it was fast charging and now even fast charging doesn’t fully charge it overnight. I’ve turned it off to charge it and will be fully charged in a shorter amount of time like it used to, but that’s not practical being as my phone is my alarm clock. I’ve gone through most of the articles written about this topic and I’m still not sure what is causing the problem. Thanks!
Solution: In most cases like this the problem is most likely caused by a hardware component. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do for this type of issue. If the current step fails to fix the problem then proceed to the next step.
- Clean the charging port of your phone. You can either use a can of compressed air or you can blow into the port using a straw. What you want to accomplish is to take out any dirt or debris that could be in this port and is causing the problem.
- Replace the charging cord. This cord gets easily damaged since it is constantly coiled and bent. In this case, the cord may already have some wires that are cut inside which leads to this issue.
- Check if the problem is software related by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the above steps fail then the issue could either be caused by the battery or a faulty component inside your phone. I suggest you bring your device to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Not Turning On After Charging Overnight
Problem: Plugged phone up as usual at night to charge, I use the phone as my alarm clock, work up early, checked phone, screen was black but with the Bluetooth blue light blinking every 6 seconds. Cannot power up the phone. Have tried the power & volume down reset 4 times. Still no power on , no screen, just the blue light blinking every 6 seconds.
Solution: Try charging your phone again for 20 minutes but this time before charging your phone make sure to do the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw.
- Use a different charging cord when charging the phone.
Try to turn on your phone.
If the phone still does not turn on then try to access the recovery mode. From here there are two things that you can do.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone. This will delete the temporary data in your device.
- Do a factory reset. This will erase all data in your phone so make sure to backup your data before doing this.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 5 Battery Takes Long Time To Charge Drains Quickly
Problem: The device does not charge properly, it takes more than 12 hours for the device to reach a full charge. The fast charging feature doesn’t work. The battery drains at an astoundingly fast rate.
Solution: What you can do in this case is to check if the phone software has anything to do with this issue by backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I recommend you have the battery of your phone replaced as this is most likely causing the problem.
Note 5 Restarts Freezes
Problem: My phone kept on restarting, powering off, and screen will freeze. I wiped the cache and the problem still happens. I then factory reset my phone and I can’t even get pass the setup, because the problems is still there.
Solution: Since you were about to perform a factory reset I assume you already have backed up your phone data. Try doing a factory reset in recovery mode. If the phone powers off in this mode then connect it to its charger then do the factory reset again from recovery mode.
Note 5 Battery Power Has Stopped
Problem: Yesterday that strange message that my power battery has stopped, began. It gives “report” or “okay” When you hit okay, whatever you were doing continues. This is most annoying and I’d be very grateful if you could help.
Solution: Do you have the exact error message that appears on the display? I suspect that this might not be a system error message but a pop-up coming form one of the apps installed in your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
One last troubleshooting step that you should consider is a factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data before doing this.
