Note 4 Powers Off Then Restarts
Problem: Hi, i’m in possession of a Samsung Note 4 for a little over a year. For the past three weeks i noticed that while using it, it froze, powers off and restarts by itself. This happens sometimes three or more times for the day. There are days when it doesn’t happens at all leaving me to think that it has corrected itself, then out of the blues it just happens. Yesterday i noticed for the first time that it was just powering off and restarting itself for almost a minute until it stops. Must i had, i have factory reset the phone once but the problem still continues.
Solution: When you performed the factory reset previously did the problem occur immediately again or did it take some time before it occurred again? If it took some time before the issue occurred again then it might be caused by an app installed in your phone. To check if this is the case try starting the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the phone freezes and restarts in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the phone still freezes and restarts even in Safe Mode then there might be other factors involved that’s causing this.
- If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it. Check if the issue still occurs after taking out the card.
- Try connecting the phone to its charger. If the issue does not occur while connected then you should try using a new battery on your phone.
If the issue still occurs after following the steps listed above then you should have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Crashing Resetting After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Phone updated to marshmallow from lollipop since then intermittently crashing and resetting. So i factory wiped and cleared cache but issue still the same. So used odin to reinstall lollipop. This worked for day or 2 but the same intermittent crashing occurred. And would constantly boot loop and sometimes automatically go into download mode. Now phone does not even turn on in normal or download or recovery mode. Seems bricked and i have three different batteries and a battery charging kit so i know i have a fully charged and working battery plugged in so that is not the issue here. Would be really grateful for any help please. Thanks
Solution: It’s either the phone is not getting power from the battery which is causing it not to turn on or a software glitch is preventing the phone from turning on. In this case though it appears to be hardware bricked. If the phone is not detected by your computer and you can’t use Odin to flash it again then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Not Turning On After Software Update
Problem: This phone was recently updated 0200, 19 Jul 2016. This morning it would not power on or turn on. I tried everything that the T Mobile wanted me to do. They wanted me to send this phone back with a fee( no warranty or ins). Anyway I checked out your website, it gave me pointer and tricks but basically the same as T-mobile was telling me to do. I don’t know now if I want to get it fix or just buy another phone like IPhone. I like Samsung but as I see from other Samsung phone have the same problem “Phone will not turn on”, so I’m reluctant of purchasing another Samsung. I need your help I still like this phone.
Solution: Have you tried checking if the phone is getting power from the battery? Try taking out the battery and microSD card ( if the phone has one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will completely discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the phone turns on. If it doesn’t then you will need to charge the phone. Before charging make sure to clean the charging port first using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be present in the port. You should also use a different charging cord when charging the phone. After charging the device for at least 20 minutes try to turn it on.
If the issue still persist then try getting a new battery. Should the issue persist bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Battery Dies Even With Charge
Problem: Battery dies between 35-40% every time. When I go to charge it, the battery says I’m at whatever percent it died at. When I try to turn my phone on again, it cycles with the opening screen. I am unsure how to do anything regarding my phone. I tried navigating through the website, but I am unsure of what a soft reset is along with other ways of fixing it. Your help would greatly be appreciated. Also, there has not been any significant damage to the phone. Only dropped a few times. No water damage. No cracks in screen or anything along those lines.
Solution: You should try checking first if the phone software is causing this problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
To perform the factory reset follow the steps listed below.
- Turn off the phone.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
- As soon as the phone vibrates, release the Power key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release all keys.
- Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device
After the reset do not install anything in the phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should try getting a new battery.
Note 4 Battery Power Decreasing Even When Charging
Problem: I have tried several chargers and a few different ports and looked in the usb port for lint and junk and I’ve done the hard reset, soft reset, and turned my phone off for a few minutes and back on. My problem is the battery power. Right now it is at 29% and decreasing even while charging (not with the original charger). I don’t know what the hell to do. Please help..
Solution: The battery might not be getting power from the charger which is why it is getting drained. To fix this problem follow the troubleshooting steps listed below which is recommended for this issue. Check if the issue still occurs after performing each step then move to the next step should the problem still occur.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Make sure that no dirt or debris is present in the port.
- Try using a different charging cord
- Try using a different wall charger
- Replace the phone battery.
If the issue persists then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Constantly Rebooting
Problem: I woke up to phone constantly rebooting whilst on charge. i took it off the charger and it just continued to keep rebooting. i tried to go through the menu quickly before it shutdown again and factory reset it. Didnt work, i tried soft resets, didn’t work so i came on to the forum here and found out to master reboot. now as the it tries to reboot and it says optimizing apps it’s even constantly rebooting and not letting it finish complete the master reboot. so now i can’t even get to a menu. What do i do to fix this?
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it has then try removing it since this might be causing the problem. You should also try connecting the phone to its charger then check if the master reboot completes.
If the issue still occurs then remove the battery and microSD card ( if the phone has one installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges the phone circuit and clears its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the issue gets resolved.
Note 4 Keeps On Rebooting
Problem: Phone keeps rebooting. I reset it twice. First it freezes then restarts. When i’m on the phone it disconnects the call and restart. then after it restart sometimes it doesn’t come back on. I get the green android guy that say don’t stop download and a boot error i have to take the battery out a few times to get to come on.
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it then check if the issue still occurs. You should also check if the battery is causing this problem by replacing it with a new one. If the issue still persist and since you already did a factory reset I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center as this could already be a hardware issue.
Note 4 Does Not Turn On
Problem: I press the power button on and nothing comes on I try charging it and it also doesn’t come on it’s been like this for about two months now and I tried everything to make it come on but it’s impossible and doesn’t come on . I really need help
Solution: Try using a new battery on your phone as the battery that your phone is using could already be faulty. If the problem still persists then I suggest you have the phone checked at a service center.
