Note 4 Firmware Upgrade Encountered An Issue

Problem: In attempts to update the my Galaxy note 4 edge, an error occurred stated firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. I tried several times but to no avail. The phone stuck on the same message and would not reboot. Is it possible to reset the phone to its original setting. I would hate to lose my phone. Please help. Do not care about losing my apps or documents. Thank you

Solution: If connecting your phone to Kies fails to resolve the issue then you should go ahead and start the phone in recovery mode. Once the phone is in this mode you will be able to do a factory reset.

If the phone can’t start in recovery mode then you should consider flashing it with its stock firmware. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular android forums online.

Note 4 Constantly Updating Software

Problem: I recently got a replacement Galaxy Note 4 from squaretrade because I dropped my last one in the pool. My phone is doing a software update what seems to be successfully but once the phone turns on and says the update was doing successfully it requests to do the update again! I have ran through the update 4 times In less than 24 hours and it’s getting kind of annoying now…please help!

Solution: Have you checked if the update versions are the same or different? If the versions are different then just let the update proceed. However, if the updates all have the same version then this could be caused by a software glitch. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset to resolve this problem.

Note 4 Invalid Update File To Install

Problem: My phones model is Galaxy note 4 Sm N910L (Korea) variant. Whenever it is connected to any wifi it shows update (marshmallow possibly ) is available.  It would then keeps downloading the update, completes 100% download and then while installing – it shows ‘invalid update file to install’. What do I do? My set is new and doesn’t have any other problems.

Solution: Is your phone running on its stock software? Have you rooted your phone? If your phone has been rooted or is running on a custom firmware then this issue can happen. To get the update you will need to manually flash it to our phone. Instructions on how to flash the update can be found at several of the popular android forums online.

If your phone isn’t rooted and is still running on its stock software then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is done check for the update again.

Note 4 Reboots Randomly After Installing Update

Problem: after installing the latest update directly my phone started to boot itself randomly like every 2 min sometimes it restart on its own sometimes I need to press the power key to restart it. I’m 100% sure it’s due to the latest update. I did clear system cache but still the problem. I don’t want to make factory reset cause I’m not sure if I can pack up my pictures and data before. please help me

Solution: If wiping the cache partition of your phone doesn’t fix this issue then you really must try a factory reset. Try to use Kies or Smart Switch to backup your phone before doing the reset so you won’t lose your data.

Note 4 Disable Update Notifications

Problem: My issue is that T mobile has pushed the Marshmallow update and is insisting that I  update. With all of the issues everyone is having with the update, I  would like to wait until the bugs are fixed so I  don’t have to spend hours trying to fix  and restore my phone afterwards. Both T Mobile and Samsung said they couldn’t disable the notifications. Is there a way to disable the notifications without buying an app to do it?

Solution: If this is a T-Mobile device then the update notification can’t be disabled as per their technical support team unless you install an app that can do this. I suggest you just proceed with the update since it will improve the overall performance of your device. If issues occur after the update then just perform a factory reset. Take note that you should backup your phone data before doing a reset.

Note 4 Stuck In Ultra Power Saving Mode After Update

Problem: I downloaded the most recent software. Upon doing that because I was having trouble charging my phone and didn’t have the money to replace the charging port, I would always use “power saving mode” with no trouble. After downloading the latest software I noticed “Ultra Power Saving Mode” I selected that. All hell broke loose after that. It is now “stuck” in UPSM. I didn’t back up the phone. No one can help me. Now it is even worse. the phone now has changed the date to March and the time is off as well. I have 1087 photos on there (I know I know) and I don’t want to loose them. Please help!

Solution: Is there a clickable more button on the top right of the screen? If you have this option then click on it then choose disable UPSM.

You should also try going to Settings – Personalization – Easy Mode. From here you will see the UPSM screen with the option to turn it off.

Another option to fix this issue is to start your phone in Safe Mode. Try to turn off UPSM in this mode. If prompted to choose a launcher try to choose Launcher instead of TouchWiz.
