#Motorola has officially confirmed through its support pages that the Amazon Prime Exclusive #MotoG4 has a permanently locked bootloader. This has come as a surprise to many as Motorola’s new wave of unlocked devices usually come with an unlockable bootloader. It goes without saying that Amazon has enforced this on Motorola in order to keep the ad-friendly experience on the device untouched.
As you know, the Prime Exclusive Moto G4 comes with Amazon’s Special Offers or ads bundled in, which in turn makes it $50 cheaper than a standard Moto G4. But it seems like there is a price to pay for this. But it only matters to those who are keen on unlocking bootloaders and flashing new ROMs.
We’ve seen Motorola taking such steps with carrier variants of its smartphones before. But this is perhaps the first time that Motorola has adhered to the request of a third-party retailer. What do you make of this news?
