S6 Apps Not Updating On Wi-Fi
Problem: I like many have had the issue of apps not updating on WiFi after the marshmallow update. I already know that Samsung is working on a patch. But what. I’ve learned is that it does work with other people’s WiFi just not mine. Now for the real interesting part. I just got another Samsung S6 and it’s the same thing which leave me to wonder if it’s not certain modems. Mine is a Belkin. I would like to know what brand the other people with the same problem are using.
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to troubleshoot the connection between your phone and the router. Delete the Wi-Fi connection from your phone then restart both your phone and the router. Once both devices have started try connecting to your Wi-Fi network again.
You should also make sure that your Wi-Fi network is working by connecting another device to it and see if it is able to go online.
Once you have made sure that the issue is not with the connection then it’s time to troubleshoot the phone. Since the problem occured right after a software update ( when the phone upgraded to Marshmallow) the best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. What this does is it deletes any old software data that could still be in your phone and is causing this problem. Once the reset is done check if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then a software patch might be the only solution.
S6 Google Play Music, Google Maps, YouTube Not Working On Wi-Fi
Problem: Google play music, Google maps, and YouTube will not connect to Internet over wifi, even though all other Google Apps (chrome, drive, photos, now, calendar) work fine. Shut off wifi and they all work fine on 4G. I’ve cleared data and cache, Uninstaller and reinstalled, reset wifi, and done everything but factory reset.
Solution: Try to check if an app you installed in your phone is causing the problem by starting the device in Safe Mode. Once your phone is in this mode check if Google Play Music, Google Maps, and YouTube works over Wi-Fi. If they do then the problem could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If you still experience the same issue even in Safe Mode then I would suggest that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this step.
S6 Gallery App Keeps On Crashing After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Since the marshmallow update my gallery continually crashes. I recently took my phone to Sprint to fix this and the super hot charging and the replaced the battery and hard reset my phone. The gallery worked….. for about 4 days. nothing else has changed on my phone except the marshmallow update. When i clear cache in gallery… it will open but only in time view. if i try to view albums it crashes and will not open again unless i clear cache.. i reset my phone again and it lasted another day.
Solution: Here’s what you need to do. Try to do a factory reset one more time. Make sure to backup your phone data before proceeding with this step. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Instead, check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t occur then the problem could be caused by a third party app. If it still occurs then I suggest you check for any app updates that could be available and get them. To do this just open the Google Play Store then head out over to the My apps section.
S6 Unfortunately Settings Has Stopped Error
Problem: My settings keeps crashing when I open it, and my Samsung Themes app will not open, it keeps saying “unfortunately settings has stopped” or when I try to open themes from homescreen it says “unfortunately touchwiz has stopped” please help me figure out what is wrong with my phone.
Solution: What you will need to do first in this case is to check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the issue could be caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in this mode then you need to backup your phone data before doing the steps listed below. Proceed to the next step should the problem still occur.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Do a factory reset.
S6 App Not Syncing After Marshmallow Update
Problem: After upgrading to marshmallow phone experiencing syncing issues with apps such as email, Gmail and Facebook etc. Done a partition cache reset but had no effect. Any help or solutions?
Solution: Start the troubleshooting by checking if the master sync switch of the phone is turned on. Next, try checking of the issue occurs when the phone is connected to the Internet using different networks. If you are using a Wi-Fi connection try using a different Wi-Fi network .You should also check if the issue occurs when using your mobile data subscription. If the network isn’t the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This reset will delete any old software data that could still be in the phone which is most likely causing this problem.
S6 Facebook App Not Working After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Hi, ever since i did the latest software update the facebook app just will not connect! I have a strong wifi connection and no other apps have this problem. I constantly have to force stop the facebook app! Only then will it connect. Any ideas on what i can do?
Related Problem: Facebook saying ‘can’t connect right now’ and Facebook messenger keeps cutting off in a call and says ‘reconnecting’
Related Problem: Have recently got a second hand phone as above. All but the fb works well. fb udates perfectly while on mobile network but never on wifi.
Solution: Try clearing the cache and data of the Facebook app then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you uninstall the Facebook app then install a fresh version from the Google Play Store.
