Note 5 Screen Does Not Respond

Problem: Note 5 v6.0.1. New phone, day 3. How to unlock/use phone after timeout? Each time after timeout the screen doesn’t respond (screen appears for a blink when pressed the home button but doesn’t stay or able to swipe/unlock). Disabled the screen lock/pin n lengthen the timeout settings, it doesn’t solve it. Also restarted each time it happens. This can’t be the way. Please help. TIA.

Solution: It’s possible that this issue is caused by some form of corrupt temporary data stored in your phone. If this is the case then wiping the cache partition of your device from the recovery mode will help. Once this is done restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.

Another factor that can cause this issue is a third party app you downloaded to your phone. Try to check if this is what’s causing the problem by starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the issue occurs while your phone is in this mode. If the screen is responsive then the problem could be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step you should consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.

Note 5 Screen Goes Black

Problem: I go to use my note 5, touch the home button, screen lights up then before i can tap any button on the screen it goes black. Hit home button again. Screen comes up then poof goes black again. Gotta be uber fast to hit any button because if i can hit say, messages symbol then it will come up. After a while this goes away but then reappears often. Also, screen is freezing.. on chrome. I have a very dim screen, too. Ill turn brightness all the way up, but it’s barely bright enough to read anything. I have done soft reset and turned phone off, etc. Nothings working. It all started after verizon’s “patch” update i installed may 10, 2016 at 6 a.m.

Solution: It appears that this problem is caused by some old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. If this is still present in your device then it could cause conflicts with the new software version resulting in this issue. To fix this problem I suggest you backup your phone data first then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Screen Lights Up On Its Own

Problem: When my phone is idle, the display screen lights up by itself. This just started happening a couple days ago and the battery is draining up to twice a day since it started. Today is day 3 that it has been doing this. I haven’t downloaded anything knew and actually I haven’t changed anything. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Solution: Try checking first if an app you installed in your phone is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps that came with your phone when it was new are allowed to run. Apps you downloaded are disabled. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it’s most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If you still experience the same issue even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data before doing this.

Note 5 Screen Is White

Problem: My galaxy note 5 is 2 weeks old. And after 1 week any pre-installed apps that I open and try to read, the screen is white and I can just barely see the transparent writing behind it. Why, and how to fix??? Heeelpp please!!!

Solution: You should check if this problem occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this. Once the reset is done try to check if the issue still remains. If it does then this could be a hardware related problem already. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
