Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Cannot Receive Or Send Picture Messages Issue & Other Related Problems

For today we will tackle one common messaging problem that most of you might have experienced and that is the Galaxy Note 5 cannot receive or send picture messages issue & other related problems. We have gathered several issues of this nature that have been sent our way and have addressed them below.

Note 5 Cannot Receive Or Send Picture Messages

Problem: I bought the phone unlocked originally from Verizon and put it on my tmobile account. Everything works but I cannot receive picture messages or send them. I’ve contacted tmobile and was told I would have to download a 3rd party app. Is there another way to fix this. T Mobile said there is no settings for a apn settings under multimedia message proxy.

Solution: This problem is due to the software used by Verizon that restricts the changing of the APN. Some people who have this same issue have tried flashing their phone with a firmware that allows the APN to be changed. Downloading a third party app as suggested by T-Mobile however is the easier choice.

Note 5 Only Receives Text Messages Once Phone Connects To Wi-Fi

Problem: Ever since I installed marshmallow I only receive sms once my phone connects to wifi. this results in delayed message and sms bombardment once my phone connects.  I can send sms out of wifi coverage but can’t receive?

Solution: Are you sending and receiving text messages using the stock messaging app? You should be able to send or receive a text message without a data connection. If you are using Hangouts integration with Project Fi then you can only send and receive data when your phone is connected to a data source ( mobile data or Wi-Fi).

Since this issue occurred right after the Marshmallow update then this could also be caused by some form of old software data that get left behind. If this is the case then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Not Getting Notifications Using Nova Launcher

Problem: Hello, I just bought my Note 5 yesterday and I set it up with Nova Launcher…  I am noticing that I am not getting the little “bubble” notification for emails or text – What do I need to do to have these show???  FYI I do get those notifications via vibration and pull down menu… Please Help! Thanks!

Solution: It looks like this could be an issue with the Nova Launcher itself. Several people with this same issue say that installing TeslaUnread for Nova Launcher fixes the problem. What this app does is it allows your phone to get the unread badge count for most of the popular chat and email apps.

Note 5 Unable To Send Or Receive Picture Messages

Problem: Long story short everything works except I am not able to send pics and or receive them. Messages sent to me get stuck and hang up as downloading.

Solution: In cases like this the first thing that you need to check if if your phone is using the correct APN settings. Compare the settings of your phone to the one your carrier is using. Make the necessary changes in your device if needed. Another requirement in sending and receiving picture messages is that should be using your mobile data connection.

Note 5 Sent Messages Not Received

Problem: My phone is saying that my messages are sent but the receiver is saying that no messages are coming through.This is only happening with one recipient

Solution: If this is happening to only one recipient then the problem could be on their end. Have them check if your messages are appearing in their spam or blocked folder list.
