Note 4 Won’t Make Phone Calls
Problem: My galaxy note 4 won’t make phone calls sometimes or send text messages. I have seen you post about deleting the cache partition and that did not help. I have also factory reset the device twice and still nothing. This phone was originally trough Verizon Wireless but then i bought it and put it on Straight Talk. I have also changed and replaced the sim card hoping that would fix the issue but that didn’t work either. Please help.
Solution: Have you tried checking if the phone is getting a good signal from Straight Talk? Since you already did a factory reset and replaced the SIM card then the only possible cause right now is a weak signal from your carrier or a hardware issue.
Try to check first if the same issue occurs in different locations or when the phone is getting a full signal strength. If the issue still occurs then this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Contact Photos Not Appearing During Calls After Software Update
Problem: Upgraded to latest version and now when I receive or make calls the image does not appear for the contact. I have checked and the image is still with the contact. I reset and restarted with no change. Appreciate the help.
Solution: Where are your contacts stored? If you have the contacts stored in the SIM card then you won’t be able to view the caller image. Save your contacts to your phone first then make sure that a photo is attached each contact. Make sure that the phone is set to display contacts saved in your phone. Check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem still occurs then try starting your phone in Safe Mode then make a call in this mode. If the photo is displayed then the problem could be caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Crashes When Receiving Calls After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Since my phone has upgraded to Marshmallow it crashes when I receive a call. It says that my telephone has stopped and the pop-up blocks me from taking the call. The only thing I can do is turn off my phone, which is also a challenge because of the pop up, and call the person back. This happens a lot but not always and I don’t know what to do. Thanks in advance for your help!
Solution: Whenever you get the phone has crashed error the first thing that you should do is to go to the phone app from the Application Manager then click on force stop. Once this is done tap on clear cache then clear data. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem still remains then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the problem still persist.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Calls Get Dropped
Problem: Hi..from last few weeks my phone calls.. (voice calls) gets dropped frequently. . sometimes the calls gets dropped with in few seconds ..sometimes it takes up to couple minutes..and it’s. Very annoying. .any fix or solution is highly appreciated. Regards
Solution: The first thing you need to check is if the problem is caused by your network. Do you have another phone around that’s running on the same carrier as your Note 4? Try to check if it drops its calls. You should also check if the same issue occurs in different locations.
Once you have made sure that the network is not causing this problem it’s time to troubleshoot your phone. Start by wiping the cache partition of your device from the recovery mode. This clears out the temporary data in your phone which could be causing the problem. If the problem persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Not Recognizing Keypad Input
Problem: Some of the call, it will prompt you to press 1, 2, 3 and etc. However, when I was prompted, I pressed the following numbers and in the call, the auto message voice did not process the number I keyed in and continue to say her message and then when paused for getting a response from the user, they can’t sense what I’ve pressed and then ended the call.
Solution: Make sure that the phone has DTMF tones enabled.
- From a Home screen, tap Phone
- From the Keypad tab, tap the Menu icon located on the upper right
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Call.
- From the Other call settings section, tap DTMF tones.
- Switch between Long and Normal and check if it works.
Note 4 Call Volume Low In Speaker When Using Apps
Problem: When I call or receive a call and take the phone up to my ear, there is no problem at all. When I turn speaker phone on it works if I don’t do anything on the phone while I speak. If I use Facebook it randomly makes me sound like I am far away from the microphone, so the other part of the conversation can’t hear me. This also happened 10 minutes ago when I was fiddling with my battery settings. I can temporarily fix the problem by turning the speaker off and on again. Thank you.
Solution: This issue might be caused by a conflict between the phone software and a third party app. Try starting the phone in Safe Mode then see if the same issue occurs. If it doesn’t then try to update your third party apps or you can find out the app that is causing this problem and uninstall it.
As a last resort you can do a factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data first before doing this procedure.
