Note 4 Will Not Stay On 4G
Problem: My phone will not stay on 4G. I had good signal strength before the software update on February 2016. It will convert to 3G or go offline completely while I’m sitting in one spot just randomly. Took it to Verizon today and they removed some apps and check turned off global roaming but no change in my signal strength. Can I revert back to previous software prior to the Feb. Update?
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check with the network first. There are instances when the 4G signal in a particular area will fluctuate due to some issues with the network. If you have another mobile device that’s on the Verizon network then try checking if it it experiences the same issue. You should also try bringing your phone to different locations then check if the same issue still occurs. Alternatively, you can contact your carrier and inquire if there are any network issues in your area that could be causing this problem.
Once you have cleared the network as causing this issue the next step is to concentrate on the phone. Since you said that this problem occured right after a software update then it is most likely caused by some form of old software data in the device which has not been completely removed. What you will need to do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fail then it’s time to consider flashing your phone with the previous software version. To do this you will need a copy of the previous firmware version file as well as a computer software called Odin. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
Note 4 3G Not Working After Software Update
Problem: Installed android update and ever since my 3g has not worked- I get a message saying no Internet. Wifi works fine, only 3g affected. Soft reset and changing an settings have not made any difference. Would be very grateful for any help/ advice
Solution: Try checking the APN settings of your phone and make sure that it matches the one your carrier is using. Next, you should also confirm with your carrier if there are any network or account related issues that could prevent you from using your mobile data subscription.
Once you have performed the above troubleshooting steps and the problem still occurs it’s time to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. A reset is highly recommended in situations where issues arise after a software update since it permanently deletes any old software data that could still be in your phone which is likely causing this issue.
Note 4 Very Slow Mobile Data Speed
Problem: I have loved my note 4 until recently I got it while with at&t then kept it when I switched to metropcs. My biggest issue is my data has stopped about a week ago at my work my phone read emergency calls only and after making sure it wasn’t the provider I did a lot of soft resets and playing with the settings and finally got some data but the connection is a lot slower then ever I can’t even get any data inside. Could this be an issue with sd card reader or antenna also I still calls and text inside but not data
Solution: If you are experiencing slow data connection speeds what you need to check first is the connection mode that your phone is on. Ideally you will want to get a 4G connection instead of a 3G connection. If the phone is not getting a 4G signal then try checking if the network mode of the phone is properly set.
- Tap the settings icon.
- Tap More networks.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- Tap Network mode.
- Choose LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
Once the network mode is set and the connection is still slow try bringing your phone to different location and check if the issue still occurs. This is to check if the problem could be caused by some form of network activity in your current location.
Another possible reason why this issue occurs is that you may have consumed your data usage allowance. Some carriers the speed of a subscriber once the data usage allowance has been exceeded. This could be the reason why you are experiencing slow connection speeds.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the issue then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process so make sure to have a backup copy first.
Note 4 Gets Disconnected From Wireless Router
Problem: Good day, i am having an issue regarding my wifi, actually my wifi detected the signal from my router (netgear) but after 2-3 minutes disconnected. and needs to reconnected manual by myself. Also i read some solution from your side and i rebooted my not4 but the problem still exist. Thanks for support
Solution: To resolve this issue try restarting both the phone and the router. Once the phone has fully booted up delete the Wi-Fi connection from the device then add it again. Check if the problem still occurs. If it does then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step if the problem still occurs.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the problem still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 No Connection To Internet Error
Problem: Slow reactions to display or keyboard touches. Internet Web pages hang on for several minutes or may often not load at all, with error messages “No connection to Internet” or “Web page taking too long to load. Try again”. Web pages often not reactive once loaded. Device is not recognized by Kies on computers. I believe a soft reset was done unsuccessfully. I will try it again. I have 4G but it does not help. I had a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and I also have a Nokia Lumia 520. The very expensive Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is the worst phone I have held in my hands.
Solution: For this particular issue you need to start the phone fresh. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your device just yet. Instead, check first if any of the issues you mentioned still occurs.
If the phone isn’t recognized by Kies even after the reset then try using a different USB cord. Try plugging your phone to a different USB cord in the computer. You should also try using a different computer.
If the phone still does not connect using either Wi-Fi or mobile data even after the reset then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.
