Google Search app now getting a symptom checker

Google Symptom Checker

The official Google Search app on your mobile device has just gotten smarter thanks to a new update. With this, the users can get a quick glance of possible conditions or issues with their body upon posting symptoms. It works directly on Search, so you don’t need to open the app to do it. This should also work with voice commands while on the Google Search app or the home screen if you own an Android device (and the Google Now launcher).

This is a step in the right direction from Google and makes Search a more intuitive experience for the users. The team has apparently worked with the folks at Harvard Medical School and Mayo Clinic to get better results with search queries. However, it goes without saying that users shouldn’t be too reliant on this new feature and it’s always recommended to consult a doctor in case of serious symptoms.

The feature should be rolling out through a server level update, so you don’t need to wait for an app update.
