Dell axing the Android-based Venue tablet lineup

Dell Venue

#Dell has announced that it will no longer release Android smartphones or tablets. Further, the company has mentioned that it will cease work on all existing Android tablets, which essentially means that customers will not see any major software updates on Dell devices going forward.

This move was always on the cards given the sales of the Venue tablets in the markets. Dell never really took the Android world seriously and we only saw failed attempts at smartphones and tablets. However, the company’s recent arrivals like the Venue 8 7000 was a pretty decent tablet and was praised across the board.

Speaking to PC World, a Dell spokesman said – “The slate tablet market is over-saturated and is experiencing declining demand from consumers, so we’ve decided to discontinue the Android-based Venue tablet line.” The company will seemingly focus on its 2-in-1 devices with Windows 10 on board, so it’s safe to say that Dell is not going anywhere near Android in the future.
