Chinese manufacturer #LeEco has sent out invites for a June 29 event which could have the headlines buzzing again. If reports are to be believed, the company’s new Le Max 2 Pro flagship will feature a whopping 8GB of RAM on board, accompanied by the quad-core Snapdragon 821 SoC, which is expected to be the slightly overclocked version of the Snapdragon 820. So it seems like the company is looking towards an upgrade in all aspects.
This is not a surprise coming from a Chinese OEM as the region is synonymous with overpowered phones. As of now, the market is just beginning to accept 6GB of RAM on smartphones. But by fitting in 8GB of RAM, smartphones can be as powerful as most current-gen notebooks in terms of memory (at least on paper).
Of course, there’s the question of whether 8GB of RAM will be usable on a smartphone. But manufacturers are seldom worried about this. About until a year ago, 4GB was considered too much, so the growth has been quite rapid. What do you think?
