According to a new report, Samsung’s much rumored foldable display handset will be officially launched sometime in 2017. The handset is said to be part of the Korean manufacturer’s flagship lineup next year and will be released in addition to the four Galaxy flagships that are launched every year. There is no word on when exactly the flagship will be announced, but it’s likely that Samsung will keep this for the end of the year, possibly in line with the Galaxy Note 7 release.
If reports are accurate, Samsung will also release the Galaxy S8, S8 edge as well as the Galaxy Note 7 edge in addition to the two smartphones mentioned above. The Galaxy X could be launched more as an experimental offering, so don’t expect it to be available on a wider scale right away. It is said that the Galaxy X will come with a 4K resolution display, while the size is not clear at this point. The display will be supposedly produced using the diamond PenTile pixel technology by Samsung.
We’re pretty excited to check out the device in action next year. What do you make of Samsung’s new foldable display smartphone?
