S6 Apps Not Working After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Ever since my phone updated to marshmallow I’ve had nothing but trouble with multiple apps. First of all, Facebook and Gmail show me only old posts/e-mails if I’m using the wifi signal in my house. Once I turn wifi off, they update to show more recent items. But if I turn it back on, it says unable to connect and shows only old stuff again. Next, both my pandora and Spotify apps have stopped continuously streaming music. After each song is done the music just stops. I have to either unlock my phone (which then Spotify starts playing the next song) or I have to unlock my phone and make sure I’m in the station page still (on Pandora). I was looking through the pandora app for settings while a song was playing. Even though I was in the app, once the song that was playing ended, I had to go back to the station page before the next song would start. On either app I don’t have to push the play button to get the next song to start, but it’s a hassle to have to constantly go back to my phone after each song ends, and unlock it to get the next song to play. The most annoying thing about this all is that my husband has the exact same phone and hasn’t had any issues with this update. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Solution: The first thing that you should check in this case is the phone connection. You mentioned that if the Wi-Fi is switched off your apps, such as Facebook and Gmail, work perfectly. I assume that you are connected to your mobile data subscription when this happens. Let’s first concentrate our troubleshooting on the Wi-Fi. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs.

  • Toggle airplane mode. Turn it on then off. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Delete the Wi-Fi connection from your phone. REstart the device then add the Wi-Fi connection. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

Regarding the streaming apps that stop after each song ends you should check the Wi-Fi setting and make sure that it is set turn on even when the phone sleeps.

  • Tap on Wi-Fi
  • Tap More
  • Tap advanced
  • Tap Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep and make sure it is enabled.

In case the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended step that should resolve any issues that you may encounter right after a software update.

S6 Streaming App Not Working After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Any music streaming app that I have scheduled as Pandora, Spotify and SIRIUSXM.  And Facebook. They all have some sort of connectivity issues with my mobile data. Whether it’s wifi or the mobile network. I think it has something to do with the new update of android 6.01 marshmallow. Please help

Solution: This issue is similar to the one we have tackled above so the same troubleshooting steps also applies. However, since the issue occurs on both a Wi-Fi and mobile data connection there are some changes that needs to be done on the steps.

  • Toggle the phone’s Airplane Mode then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Check if there are any new updates to your apps by going to the Google Play Store then clicking on the My Apps & Games section. Update the apps that needs updating then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Music Files Not Detected By Apps After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Since before marshmallow upgrade, music is not able to be detected in apps.  Filesystem tools show the folders and files are there.  Connection to Windows 10 to transfer seems to load music to the right folders but apps like Music don’t detect it.  Photos seem orphaned, too.  Backup of photos detect a bottle 6000 photos and Verizon Cloud sees a few hundred.  Suggestions other than dreaded factory reset?

Solution: If a factory rest is out of the question then the next best thing that you can do in this case is to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this does not work then you should really consider doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before performing this step.

S6 Not Connecting To Wi-Fi After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Downloaded the latest Marshmallow update.  Connected to my home wifi fine before update, now I cannot.  I can connect to someone else wifi but not my home wifi.  Can i remove or uninstall the latest update? I’ve check all the wifi problems with the phone and the network modem.  Nothing is working.  Yes everyone else can connect to my home wifi but me.  Help!  I am not the only Samsung s6 Verizon user that has this problem!!

Solution: The latest software update can’t be easily removed from your phone. If you want to downgrade to the previous software version then you will have to flash the old firmware back to your phone which is a lengthy procedure.

Here’s what you need to do to connect to your home Wi-Fi. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs.

  • Delete the Wi-Fi connection from your phone. Restart your phone and the router. Add the connection again then try to connect to it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
