Samsung Galaxy S5 Always Freezing Issue & Other Related Problems

S5 Always Freezing

Problem: This phone is always freezing on me no matter what application i’m in. I’ve done numerous master resets and that doesn’t work. I keep getting an error that Facebook,  snap,  Internet,  maps, evct has stopped working. If i’m in the middle of an app and I have an incoming call, my screen freezes and I can’t pick up the call . I’ve purchased new sd cards and that doesn’t help.  Its very annoying,  i have more than enough memory.  I thought it was Facebook at first so i uninstalled it but the issue still continues.  I’ve even tried a wipe cache partition and that doesn’t help.  When i’m on the internet and i’m typing,  there is either a lag between the letters appearing on the screen or the screen just freezes and kicks me off. T Mobile has trouble shooted but can’t find anything. .. please help!

Solution: Sometimes a faulty microSD card can cause this problem. Have you tried using the phone with the microSD card removed? Another possible factor that can contribute to this issue is a third party app installed in your phone. Try to start your phone in Safe Mode. Once the phone is in this mode you need to check if the freezing issue occurs. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded and installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue still persists then you have two more options to consider. First, try to check if there is a new software update for your phone and if there is you should get it. This update comes with various performance enhancements that could resolve the issue that the phone has right now. The second option that you should consider is to flash the phone with its previous firmware. The issue might disappear with the phone running on an older software version. S5 Lags Freezes

Problem: Hi, I’ve looked through your site and tried some of your suggested fixes but no luck yet! Phone is extremely temperamental it lags freezes jumps from screen to screen…ie I can be looking in photos and suddenly it opens my Guardian app or whatever. Makes random phone calls! Back button not working, can’t navigate my way round pages as it just freezes…basically very sick phone! I’ve cleared cache etc tried safe mode…it does run slightly smoother then but still no back button. Back button suddenly did work the other day but it’s gone again now.Thanks in advance!

Solution: Your last option to check if this is a software related problem is to do a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before proceeding with this. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Check first if the issue still occurs.

If the problem still occurs then you might be looking at a hardware related problem. I suggest that you have your phone checked at an authorized service center if this is the case.

S5 Freezes Battery Is Hot

Problem: Hi, the thing is: the Tubebook (YouTube downloader,  downloaded from Samsung store,) does not work properly, the phone freezes …the battery is hot…I had had to restart the phone several times..the phone is runs slow (was better with 5.0).

Solution: Does our phone freeze only when Tubebook is used or does it freeze even when other apps are running? If the freezing issue only occurs when Tubebook is use then there might be something wrong with the app itself. Try clearing the cache and data of the app from the application manager. If the issue still occurs then try uninstalling the app and reinstalling a fresh version, if possible get it from the Google Play Store.

Regarding the issue of the battery getting hot this could be caused by an app or a process that’s running aggressively on the phone. Try starting the device in Safe Mode then observe if the battery still gets hot. If it doesn’t it could be caused by an app.

If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in the phone just yet. You need to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you might want to proceed with replacing your phone battery as this may already be faulty.

S5 Does Not Turn On

Problem: Hello, I have tried factory reset, pulled battery several times, etc. I tried the suggestion home, power, volume up keys, it goes into recovery booting with the custom unlock figure, but then goes to next screen with yellow warning sign, and failed ….., go to computer and some sort of repair program. My Mac has never recognized the device so no go. Anything you can suggestion appreciated.

Solution: It looks like the problem is caused by a corrupted phone software. I suggest you try flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file to resolve this matter. You will need a copy of the firmware file that’s made specifically for your device model as well as a computer software called Odin to perform the flashing procedure. Detailed instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 Freezes Battery Drains Fast

Problem: At the first I noticed that my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone run the battery so fast this morning even though I was charging it at the same time, so I tried to switch it off hope it can be charged quickly, the phone was freeze, I have to took the battery out, then when I tried to reopen it, it freeze half way. What should I do?

Solution: The freezing and battery drain issues that your phone is experiencing could be related. There are two things that you can do in this scenario. First, you should try to backup your phone data then perform a factory reset. Once the reset is done don’t install anything in your phone just yet. Instead, try to check if the issue still occurs. If the problem still occurs then proceed to the next step and that is to replace the phone battery with a new one. The battery your phone is using right now could already be faulty and not providing the correct power to the phone which could lead to this type of problem.

S5 Messaging App Is Glitchy

Problem: Messaging app is very glitchy. Slow to load. Very laggy when typing or after pressing send.  If I start to receive a text while I’m typing a different message the app freezes and lags really badly.  HELP!!!!!

Solution: If the lag issue only occurs when you are using the messaging app then it could be caused by some form of corrupt temporary data stored in this app. Try clearing the cache and data of your messaging app from the application manager then check if the problem still occurs.

If it does then it could be caused by a conflict with a third party app installed in your phone. To verify if this is the case just start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

S5 Slow After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Performed tmobile marshmallow update. Now phone is slow to awake and browse ,internet video won’t play or buffering to the point 5 min video takes 20 min

Solution: One of the best troubleshooting steps that you can do whenever issues occur right after a software update is to do a factory reset. Take note that you will need to backup your phone data before proceeding with this step.
