Note 4 Touchscreen Not Responsive
Problem: Touch screen not as responsive as it used to be. Yes I have an after-market S Pen. Yes I have a replacement OEM S Pen. No I can’t find my broken original S Pen that was taped but working properly. Regardless it still seems to be either unresponsive or slow to respond to touch. Especially if it’s not my fingers which is actually a medical problem for me. Thank you so much!
Solution: One of the most common issues that can cause a touchscreen to become unresponsive is the accumulation of temporary data in the phone. If this data gets corrupt then it could cause this kind of problem. What you will need to do to eliminate this possibility is to start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Once this is done restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
In case the issue still occurs you need to verify if the S Pen that you are using is causing this problem. If you have access to an original Samsung S Pen then try using it.
Should the issue still occur even after using an original S Pen I suggest you check if the phone software is causing this problem by backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset.
If the factory reset fails to resolve this issue then this could be caused by a faulty digitizer. I would suggest that you have your phone checked at an authorized service center if this is the case.
Note 4 No Display
Problem: I was told by a cell phone repair store that the lcd was out. Screen is not cracked and wouldn’t even turn on although you could hear the phone start up. Just recently after it sitting in my closet for a few months i decided to give it another try. I plugged in the charger and to my amazement the screen comes on but as soon as i press a digit for the lock code the phone goes black. Any ideas or solutions? I really dont wanna spend 350$ on a repair for the led if that isn’t the case. Plus if the lcd was out the screen shouldn’t even come on at all correct? Please help.
Solution: There’s only two reasons why the screen should go black. First, it could be caused by a faulty display or second it could be caused by by a problem with the phone software. The easiest troubleshooting step that you can do on your own is to check if the problem is caused by a software anomaly. To do this you need to start your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this step.
If the above step fails to resolve the problem then this could most likely be caused by a faulty display. There are instances when displays work for a short period of time then suddenly go black such as in your case.
If you would like to save some money then you could try to replace the screen yourself. You will need to purchase the Note 4 screen and digitizer assembly which usually costs around $200. As for the procedure in changing the screen you could check some of the popular YouTube tutorial videos on this topic.
Note 4 Black Screen After Phone Dropped
Problem: I dropped my phone and got the black screen of death. It’s covered by insurance but how do I back it up if I can’t use the screen. I’ve connected it to my pc via cable but the pc doesn’t see it. I’d really hate to lose my stuff!
Solution: If the phone can’t bee seen by your computer then the only way to retrieve your data right now is to have the display fixed. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked. You will probably have to replace the whole display assembly.
Note 4 Screen Is Black But Getting Notifications
Problem: My screen wont turn on…… I heard that it is called “The Blank Screen” or “Unresponsive Screen”. Like i can hear the audio, ex: if i get a call i will hear it but the screen won’t show…. Any help? Would be happy to hear from you
Solution: If the screen is black but you are still getting notification sounds then the problem could be caused by a damaged display. Try checking first if your phone can access the recovery mode. If you can then this issue could be software related. You will need to do a factory rest in this mode. Take note that all your phone data will be deleted so make sure to have a backup copy. If your phone is unable to access the recovery mode then there’s a big possibility that the issue could be caused by a damaged display. I would suggest that you bring your phone to an authorized service station for checking and repair if this is the case.
Note 4 Screen Went Black
Problem: I was taking some pictures at a wedding, my phone got really hot. When I arrived at home to view the pictures, the screen started to dim and got yellow and just went black after. I tried taking out the battery for a couple hours but still no results. It’s been this way for 2 days now.
Solution: From how you describe the issue it seems that this may already be a hardware related problem. Try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs.
- Take out the phone battery and microSD card if your phone has one installed. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.
- Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes. Turn on your phone while it is still connected to its charger.
- Start the phone in recovery mode. Wipe the cache partition of your device.
- Start the phone in recovery mode. Do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this step.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Delay When Turning On Screen From Lock
Problem: When I press on unlocking button of my phone, it takes around 5 or more seconds to get the display. Any suggestions?
Solution: One of the most common causes of the screen delay in turning on from its lock state is some form of corrupt temporary data .This is why I recommend that you wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then proceed with starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Note 4 Screen Is Black After Drop
Problem: When i dropped my phone face first on the ground the screen didn’t crack and it was still able to power on. I was able to see the notification light turn blue but the screen remained black. The phone started to get hot so i removed the battery.
Related Problem: I dropped my phone and the phone will turn on and off but screen remains black. There is also a small crack on the top left corner but you can’t actually feel it on the screen
Solution: It is very likely that the drop has caused some damage to the device, perhaps to its display. Try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below before bringing your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
- Start the phone in recovery mode. Wipe the cache partition of your phone in this mode.
- Start the phone in recovery mode. Do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
