Note 4 Screen Is Completely Black
Problem: Hi I wish you could help me with my problem with my samsung galaxy note 4. I dropped my phone and when I picked it up it was turned off so I quickly checked if there were any damages and thank god it didn’t have any but when I pressed the power button it turned on and I could hear the sound (the ringtone that plays when you turn on your phone) but the problem is the screen is completely black! So I took the battery and then placed it on my phone again the same process I turned it on and the ringtone rang but still the screen won’t show. I asked for my brother’s help and he tried to open my phone by pressing the power button and home screen button at the same time but still the screen won’t show. Please I hope that you could help me with my problem. Thanks!
Solution: It looks like the display might have been damaged during the drop. Try to check if you are able to start the phone in recovery mode. By doing this you are testing if the phone software is causing this issue. If the display starts in this mode and you are able to see the menu on the screen then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that by doing so your phone data will be deleted so make sure to have a backup copy of your phone data before proceeding.
If the black screen still occurs in recovery mode then you might need to have the display assembly of your device replaced. I suggest your bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Random Back Key Presses
Problem: Constant phantom key (back button) presses. It’s impossible to do anything, text, type, play games because the phone backs out of every app. Happens with or without haptic feedback turned on. Happens with or without s pen inside phone. Happens with or without wifi on.
Solution: This could either be a software or a hardware related issue. What we will be checking first is if this issue is caused by a software problem. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this issue. Move to the next step if the current step you performed fails to resolve the issue.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This allows you to check if a form of corrupt temporary data is causing the issue. Restart your phone afterwards then check if the issue still occurs.
- Start your phone in Safe Mode. This is to check if a third party app installed in your phone is causing the problem. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If after performing the above steps the issue still occurs then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center since this could already be a hardware related problem.
Note 4 Part Of Screen Not Responding To S Pen
Problem: Hello. I have a problem while using the S pen . A part of the screen is not responsive to the pen. But I can still write or draw on that part with my finger. What could possibly be the problem? Thanks for your help.
Solution: This could be caused by a faulty digitizer. Try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below to see if other factors are involved that could be causing this problem.
- Try to check if the issue occurs when your phone is in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then there’s a chance that an app is causing this issue. Find out what app his is and uninstall it.
- Try to check if the issue occurs with a different S Pen.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the issue still occurs.
If the problem still persists then this could already be caused by a defective digitizer. I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center if this is the case.
Note 4 Touch Screen Not Responsive After Drop
Problem: I’ve dropped my phone a few times in the past which resulted in the touch screen being unresponsive. Luckily it does respond to the S pen. the touch screen started to work again a few hours later. I recently dropped it again..its been 2 days and the touch screen has not kicked back in. Is there a fix?
Solution: It’s very likely that the display has been damaged by the drop causing it to become unresponsive to your touch input. Since you are still able to use the S Pen I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs I suggest you bring your phone to a service center. There’s a chance that the whole display assembly will need to be replaced.
Note 4 Screen Is Black
Problem: Well i didn’t drop my phone or anything like that. I was playing one of the games i usually play daily and my screen started to flicker. Around 10 mins later i go to my room the screen is completely black i have only had the phone for around 10 months. Also a little more info about it the led still comes on and if i leave it on long enough my phone will vibrate because i have a message.
Solution: If you a can hear notifications on your phone but the screen is black then there’s a chance that the display itself could be damaged. Try to check if you can access the recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then the problem could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. I suggest you do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.
If the screen is still black even in recovery mode then it’s possible that this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Screen Stuck In Installing Update
Problem: my phone automatically downloaded an update. when i tried to install it, it started to install and then my phone restarted. once it came back on it started installing the update again. then it said error and restarted. it did this for about 5 times before i took the battery out and put it back in. once i did that and turned it on it continued to do the same thing. it will not even go to my home screen. just to the install green guy and error and off. i need help.
Solution: This is one of the unfortunate cases where a glitch occurs during the installation of the update. To resolve this problem you need to start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. If this doesn’t fix the problem then go back to recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in this process.
