Google could allow Nexus users to save unlimited original quality photos on the cloud

Nexus 6P

Own a #Nexus device? Well, there might soon be a new perk in addition to getting frequent software updates. According to a torn down APK, #Google is looking to give Nexus owners unlimited cloud storage for pictures saved in ‘original quality’. This pertains to images stored using the Google Photos app.

For those unaware, Google Photos allows users to store photos in “high quality” or original quality, with the former being a slightly compressed version of the images, but with unlimited storage. But if you want to save images in its original form, it will start eating into your Google Drive storage, if available.

This revelation goes on to suggest that Google might remove this restriction altogether for Nexus users and allow them to store as many images as they want (in original quality). This could be a very good perk for those shutterbugs who don’t like the compressed form of images that Google Photos offers. This won’t make much of a difference for the average smartphone user, though.
