S6 Apps Not Updating After Marshmallow Update
Problem: I installed the new update before doing research and seeing that a lot of people have been having problems with it. When the update finished installing, I got a notification saying that Google Play services needs an update, and long story short it refused to update. In fact, nothing wanted to update. I eventually got fed up enough to do a system restore, hoping it would restore to the previous version of android, that it came with. It didn’t. And the Play Store still won’t download anything. Please help me, I’m fed up with this now.
Solution: Usually in this case a factory reset will have resolved the issue. Since it didn’t then there may be other factors involved aside from the phone software that’s causing this issue. Start the troubleshooting by trying to connect to a different Wi-Fi network. You should also check if the issue occurs if you are using your mobile data subscription.
Once you have verified that the connection is not causing the problem try doing one more round of software troubleshooting by following the steps listed below.
- Delete Google account from your phone then restart the device. Add your account again then check if the issue still occurs.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do another round of factory reset this time do it from the recovery mode.
S6 “this device is locked because of an abnormal factory reset. sign in to the Samsung account that you have already signed in to on this device to confirm that it belongs to you” Error
Problem: I recently performed a software update, after restarting my phone, it was lagging a lot and kept giving me an error message. I contacted Samsung and they told me to undergo factory reset so I did. But now.. my phone is saying “this device is locked because of an abnormal factory reset. sign in to the Samsung account that you have already signed in to on this device to confirm that it belongs to you”. I tried to log in with my ID + PW but it shows “processing failed”. Anyway I can fix this? I tried to reboot it 3 times already…>.< Samsung wasn’t being helpful at all and I was wondering if you would be of any help? Thank you for your time!
Solution: To resolve this issue you should first make sure that your phone is connected to the Internet.the processing failed error that you are getting might be due to a poor Internet connection. The only way to fix this is to access the Samsung account associated with this device. Make sure to enter the correct user ID and password. If you somehow forgot this information or if nothing happens when you enter the user ID and password combination then you should tap on the forgot user ID/ password field. You will then have to enter the Samsung email associated with this account. Once you have completed this process an email will be sent to you with a reset URL link ( access your email using a computer) . Click on the link then assign a new password. Once the new password has been set go back to your S^ then try to use this.
If the issue remains unresolved at this point then I suggest you contact your carrier regarding this problem.
S6 Facebook Can’t Reconnect Error After Marshmallow Update
Problem: Since update to Marshmallow: Facebook works fine for a few hours, then I get a “can’t reconnect” error message, and FB won’t work right for a few hours — e.g., newsfeed gets stuck and won’t update. Then FB works fine for a few hours, then FB can’t reconnect again.
Solution: If this issue occurs only on the Facebook app then this is where we will concentrate the troubleshooting steps on. Follow the steps listed below. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs.
- Check for any new updates to the Facebook app and update the app accordingly.
- Clear the cache and data of the Facebook app.
- Uninstall the Facebook app then reinstall a fresh version from the Google Play Store
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to fix the issue then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that you will need to backup your phone data before doing this.
S6 Can’t Complete Call After Marshmallow Update
Problem: I have a update but when finished it won’t install it get a message saying software update error logs have been collected these will be uploaded to the server ? And will not update my phone ? Woke up this morning to an android update ready to install and didn’t think twice before clicking update….Since then, standard apps like twitter, outlook, gmail don’t update, telling me I’m not on the network, even when I’m in my house and connected to the wifi. I spend over an hour talking to sprint tech support and managed to get the network connectivity issue for data and apps fixed, so I can now update email, etc., however every time I try to call my wife’s cell, (she’s also on Sprint,) it doesn’t ring and a woman’s voice says “we cannot complete your call at this time. Please try again later.” Randomly, I can call my mom’s cell, who is also on Sprint, but she gets a busy signal when she tries to call me. I’ll probably have to go into a Sprint store tomorrow, but am really trying to avoid having to wipe my phone. Hopefully they get this sorted out quickly.
Solution: Since this issue occured right after a software update there are two troubleshooting steps that you need to perform. First, try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data of your device that could be causing the issue. If the first method fails then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in this process so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this step.
S6 Error When Installing Software Update
Problem: I have a new software update provided by att I am able to download it to the phone, but when it comes to installing it, it says error and the installation process will end and restart my phone back to normal.
Solution: Since the problem occur during the installation part the this could be caused by some glitch in the phone software or lack of internal storage space for the update to properly install.
Try to free up some internal storage space in your device first. You can uninstall some apps that you rarely use, wipe the cache partition of your phone, or better yet do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data first before doing the reset. Once this is done try to download the update again then check if it installs in your device.
S6 Text Bubbles Are Different After Marshmallow Update
Problem: I updated to os 6.0 last night, and there are some weird things happening today. For one thing, when I’m messaging (texting) someone, about 1/3 of the text bubbles are a different shape and color. First I thought that it was indicating a message unsent, or unreceived, or something… but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why this is happening. Do you have any insight? Another issue is that when I used my touch screen prior to the update, it looked like a drop of water appeared and I was dragging it with my finger. Nothing really functional, but just a cool feature. It’s gone now, and I have no idea how to add it back. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Solution: Regarding the text bubbles being different try to check if this is caused by an active enhanced messaging feature. Open the messages app then hit on more then settings. Turn off enhanced messaging from here. You should also check if a third party app is causing this issue by starting your phone in Safe Mode then checking if the issue occurs in this mode. If it does then it is most likely to be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Regarding the water effect that was present prior to the update you can set this again from the lock screen setting. Go to settings – Lock screen and security – Unlock effect. From here you can choose between none, water droplet and sparkling bubbles.
