S5 S Planner App Not Functioning Properly After Software Update

Problem: I received a software update from Samsung. After installing it the Samsung S Planner App no longer functions properly. I have noticed a lot of people posting about this online on different forums. I can use the ‘Day’ view or the ‘Month’ view but I can’t use the ‘week’ view. If I attempt to use that mode I get a message ‘Unfortunately, S Planner has stopped.’ As the week view is the best view for me and as I like the s planner app best I am keen to get it to work. i have tried the cache clear that you have recommended elsewhere but that hasn’t worked.  

Solution: It looks like this issue is caused by a bug in the software update as a lot of people who own this device are also having a problem when using the week view as the app crashes. Some of the troubleshooting steps that have been tried to resolve this issue are as follows.

  • Clear the cache and data of the app
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone
  • Do a factory reset

All of the above steps have failed to resolve the issue so far thus it appears to be a software bug. Right now the only way to get this fixed is if Samsung releases a patch.

S5 Apps Open On Its Own

Problem: Every time i am looking at any app on phone, I will close it and it will reopen on its own, for instance, i will open my email, read new emails and then close it, about 3 seconds later it will open back up on its own and go to a reply screen like i was going to reply to an email, or on Facebook, i’ll be looking at my news feed and close it, it will reopen around 3 seconds later to a random person’s page i have no clue who it is, or my web browser, i’ll be surfing the web and then close it, it will open up 3 seconds later to a page that i’ve never visited. and I have scanned for malware and viruses and scan comes up clean, the phone does this to almost every app i have whether it came with the phone new or i’ve downloaded it myself bought the phone brand new

Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode first. This will delete the temporary data in your device which may be causing this problem. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install any app in your phone just yet. Check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S5 Virus Alert Pop-Up

Problem: while I’m using my apps, Google pops up and it says u have a virus and has affected your phone 35.8% install the app below to fix the problem . i did that it didn’t work

Solution: These pop-ups that claim that something is wrong with your device and that you have to install an app to fix it is usually just a ploy to get you to install the app. Most of the time if not all of the time there really is nothing wrong with the device. Since you already installed the app I suggest that you backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This way you eliminate any trace of the app which could be a security threat.

S5 Application Not Installed Error

Problem: I moved all my downloaded apps to my sd card and everything was fine. Because I needed my sd card for something else, I cut all the contents inside my sd card to my computer. After I was done using my sd card for something else, I cut back the sd card contents that was moved to my computer back to my sd card and inserted the sd card to my phone. Suddenly, all the apps that were located in my sd card (card/android/data) said “Application not installed” even though the application folder inside the data folder still exists. Is there a way to recognize the application folders that are inside the data folder? Is there a way to restore back all my installed apps from my sd card besides re-downloading the apps?

Solution: This issue is caused by the security feature of Android that detects whenever certain files have been tampered with. In this case, you cut the files from the microSD card then placed it back. Several things could go wrong during this process such as  the apps may not be copied back correctly. The only way right now to resolve this is to redownload the affected apps.

S5 Snapchat Not Working On Mobile Data

Problem: Hi, I’m having 2 problems with my android. The first, Snapchat doesn’t work on my mobile data, even when I turn off the Restrict Background Data. Is there a way that I can make it where my Snapchat works on Data? Also, the second problem, almost every time I try to open messages or Facebook, it takes me to the App Play Store to download new apps. I wasn’t having that problem before and I’ve tried uninstalling apps, clearing caches, and turning it off and on. Yet, I’m still getting these pop-ups.

Solution: For the Snapchat issue try changing the network mode of the device ( LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect), WCDMA/GSM (auto connect), WCDMA only). If the issue still remains then try to uninstall the Snapchat app then download a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

For the pop-up issue that you are having it appears that your phone has some adware installed. The quickest way to resolve this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
